On September 12, the stock market slightly increased again after 3 declining sessions at the beginning of the week. At the end of the session, VN-Index increased by 3.08 points, to 1,256.35 points; HNX-Index also increased by 0.45 points, to 231.9 points.
However, the market experienced a very "sleepy" trading session, with stock prices fluctuating within a narrow range. Liquidity dropped to a record low, with all three floors reaching just over VND11,400 billion, while HoSE alone was just over VND10,400 billion, down 10% from the previous session.
Notably, the sluggish trading situation has been going on continuously since the beginning of September. Statistics show that the average trading value from the beginning of September until now is only about 12,000 billion VND/session, while the average in August reached 16,500 billion VND/session.
Money is still waiting to enter the stock market.
Mr. Nguyen The Minh, Director of Research and Product Development at Yuanta Vietnam Securities Company, said that when the VN-Index approaches 1,300 points, the market will face certain difficulties. That is, foreign investors are still net sellers, even though the value has decreased, but they are still in a selling trend.
In addition, after the September 2nd holiday, international stocks, including those of the US and China, also fell due to negative macroeconomic data. Not to mention that Vietnam is facing a storm, so the cash flow into the domestic stock market is also "avoiding the storm". In fact, it is standing outside to observe, waiting for a clear opportunity to participate.
"There are reasons why cash flow is still waiting for an opportunity to flow into the stock market in the near future. That is, other financial investment channels are relatively less attractive, such as low savings interest rates, the real estate market has not been active after 3 related laws took effect. The gold market has passed its hot period and is no longer attractive. Therefore, cash flow into stocks is like "straw waiting for a spark" that only needs a driving force and stimulus to "burn" - Mr. Minh emphasized.
An investment director at VPS Securities Company said that investors are cautious with many unclear information, affecting the psychology of investors related to the world . However, this is also the period when stocks are entering the bottom zone. The groups of stocks that tend to lead this period are banks, securities, steel and public investment.
