According to Dan Tri reporters , from 5am on July 1, hundreds of Buddhists flocked to Quan Su Pagoda ( Hanoi ) to witness the bell-ringing ceremony and pray for national peace and prosperity.

According to the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, July 1 is the first day of operation of the new provinces and cities after the merger and operation of the 2-level local government model nationwide. This is an extremely special historical event in the process of the nation entering a new era of prosperous development.

At exactly 6:00 a.m. on July 1, two monks of Quan Su Pagoda (Hanoi) rang the bell and drum three times to pray for national peace and prosperity.

The ritual of ringing the bell and drum three times is a special ritual of Buddhism during major ceremonies such as Buddha's birthday, Vu Lan, Thuong Nguyen, ancestors' death anniversary, the rainy season retreat, etc., showing its sacredness.

When ringing the bell and drum, Buddhists will feel as if they are inviting the Buddha to reign within themselves, hoping that all beings in the world will follow the path of liberation and enlightenment.

Three bells and the Prajna drum ended the ceremony, and the monks went from the living room to the main hall to perform the ceremony. At this time, the chanting and recitation of Buddha's name by the monks and Buddhists echoed throughout the temple.

Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice President and General Secretary of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, said the country is in an important historical period when new provinces and cities and the two-level government model officially operate from July 1.

Venerable Thich Duc Thien affirmed that this is an extremely meaningful and important moment. Buddhism, with its tradition of patriotism over thousands of years of history, always accompanies the nation in every historical moment of the country, bringing faith, solidarity and confidence.
