After weeks of dominating the box office, the Vietnamese movies officially cools down as summer movie season begins. Animated Movies Doraemon Movie 44: Nobita and the adventure into the world in the picture quickly took the number one position on the charts Box Office Vietnam (independent box office monitor).
However, the revenue of all films has decreased sharply, mainly due to the impact of the national mourning. Many theaters closed simultaneously on the weekend, significantly affecting revenue.
Doraemon the Robot Cat is in good shape
During the three-day weekend, Doraemon Movie 44 grossed over 17 billion VND with over 190,000 tickets sold in over 5,300 screenings. This figure decreased by about 37% compared to last week (over 27 billion VND). The number of screenings did not decrease much but the number of tickets sold dropped sharply.
The film revolves around the journey of Nobita and his friends using a special gadget to enter the world inside the paintings.
The film marks the 45th anniversary of the series. Doraemon is also the first time a female director has helmed the project. Therefore, the work promises to bring a new experience with a combination of art, adventure and a meaningful message about friendship.
As of now, Doraemon Movie 44 has earned more than 50 billion VND. This is not surprising because the robot cat has a large number of fans in Vietnam. Previous part Doraemon Movie 43: Nobita and the Earth Symphony also achieved more than 147 billion VND in our country.
Second on the chart is Lilo & Stitch live action . This live-action film retains the spirit of the original, revolving around the touching story of friendship between a Hawaiian girl named Lilo and an alien named Stitch.
The film combines images and music well, while conveying a positive message, so it was well received and loved by the audience.
Third on the Box Office Vietnam chart is a Korean film. Yadang: Three-sided flip with more than 2 billion dong.
This action-crime film scores points thanks to its engaging script with many unexpected twists. The content is quite interesting when exploiting the underground world of “yadang” - professional informants in the drug industry.
The talented cast including Kang Ha Neul, Yoo Hai Jin and Park Hae Joon is also a factor that helps the film attract Vietnamese audiences.
Vietnamese movies are losing ground
After weeks of fever, Detective Kien: The Headless Case fell to fourth place with more than 1.8 billion VND, raising total revenue to more than 240 billion VND, becoming the highest-grossing film in his career. Victor Vu.
This is a special project, marking 20 years of Victor Vu's career. When it was released, the work received good feedback from audiences and critics. Currently, the crew is also busy producing the sequel to meet audience expectations, promising to create an attractive series for Vietnamese cinema.
Flip 8: Sunny Bracelet belong to Ly Hai also dropped to fifth place with more than 7.9 billion VND, bringing the total revenue to 220 billion VND. Although the crew tried to promote, the project still lost heat with a much lower number of screenings than before.
The current situation shows that the two films of Victor Vu and Ly Hai have both lost popularity, and will likely have to be withdrawn from theaters soon. Ly Hai also cannot repeat the achievement of more than 483 billion VND of the previous part. Flip Side 7: A Wish before
Rain of Fire - Brother Overcomes a Thousand Thorns Movie did not cause a stir as expected, only earning more than 500 million VND in the three weekend days, unable to make it into the top 5 of Box Office Vietnam .
The film, directed by Dinh Ha Uyen Thu, recreates the journey of 33 "talents" Bang Kieu, Tu Long, Binz, Soobin, Tuan Hung... through performances and behind-the-scenes stories that have never been published.
However, the film has grossed over 8.5 billion VND - still a pretty good number compared to the concert documentary genre which is not very popular with audiences.
Apart from the top 5, the remaining films did not have impressive revenue. Horror films from Hollywood were also not warmly received by Vietnamese audiences. Until Dawn: The Secret of Horror only collected more than 700 million dong Sinner just over 300 million dong. Superhero blockbuster Thunder Squad flew out of the top 10 with just over 80 million VND.
This week, blockbuster Mission: Impossible - Final karma will be released, promising to change the box office landscape.
With a production budget of approximately $220 million, Final karma is one of the most ambitious projects of Paramount and Tom Cruise. Not only is he the main actor, he also takes on the role of producer and is the soul of the brand.
With a profound message, the film promises a grand and meaningful ending to the nearly three-decade journey of the IMF hero.
