This afternoon, March 25th, in Hanoi, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television, held a meeting of the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee for the 5th National Journalism Award on Anti-Corruption, Waste, and Negative Phenomena, 2024-2025.

Attending the meeting were: Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central mass organizations, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the Award; Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Hoang Cong Thuy - Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award; Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television Do Duc Hoang - Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the Award; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Phan Xuan Thuy; Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi.

Here, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vu Dinh Long, stated that immediately after the meeting of the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the Award in May 2024, the Propaganda Department promptly sent draft implementation documents to the coordinating agencies, each member of the Steering Committee, and the Organizing Committee for comments. From there, they compiled, incorporated, and finalized the Plan between the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and Vietnam Television on organizing the fifth National Journalism Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negative phenomena, 2024-2025; issued the Award Regulations; and assigned tasks to the Steering Committee of the fifth Award.

Closely monitoring the progress of the Award's implementation, the Propaganda Department promptly advised the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to send official letters to agencies, units, localities, and press agencies nationwide requesting them to publicize, introduce, and actively participate in the fifth Award. At the same time, it advised the Award Steering Committee and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to issue a Decision renaming the "National Journalism Award for Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena" to the "National Journalism Award for Anti-Corruption, Waste, and Negative Phenomena".

To date, the Standing Committees of provincial and city Party Committees, Party Committees directly under the Central Committee, ministries, departments and agencies at the central level, provinces and cities, member organizations of the Fatherland Front at the central level, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of provinces and cities have sent official letters to press agencies requesting them to actively promote and participate in the fifth National Journalism Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negative phenomena.

At the meeting, members of the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the Tournament provided feedback on the progress report of the Tournament's implementation, especially the key tasks for the coming period, and made recommendations and proposals to the agencies coordinating the Tournament's organization.

Many opinions suggested that the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the Award should continue to strengthen information and propaganda work about the Award through the news agencies and press of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the press agencies of the Central and localities to create interest and attract a large number of press agencies, reporters, journalists, and contributors to write articles and submit works to participate in the Award.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman and Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, affirmed that, through four editions, the National Journalism Award on Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena has received attention from press agencies and journalists nationwide and the support of a large number of people. In particular, it strongly promotes and encourages the role of the press and the people in accompanying the Party and the State in the current process of building and rectifying the Party, and preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negative phenomena.

Emphasizing the groundbreaking directives of the Politburo and the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha stated that the Politburo established 19 inspection teams to examine the leadership, guidance, and implementation of newly issued resolutions and conclusions of the Politburo and the Secretariat at the provincial and city levels. Therefore, the implementation of this year's competition needs to be groundbreaking, with innovative methods and approaches to create wider impact and depth, especially for articles reflecting on wasteful practices.

"Stemming from the noble functions, tasks, and mission of this year's Journalism Award, the Fatherland Front system needs to promote its role in consultation and unified action regarding social monitoring and criticism programs in localities, creating a basis and premise for journalists to explore and produce outstanding articles reflecting issues of corruption, waste, and negative practices at the grassroots level," suggested Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha.

The Vice Chairman-Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front stated that, based on the content of Conclusions 126-KL/TW and 127-KL/TW of the Politburo and the Secretariat, the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and central mass organizations are continuing to review the functions and tasks of media agencies within the bloc to improve and enhance the effectiveness of their operations. This is also an opportunity for media agencies within the bloc to strengthen their propaganda efforts and submit outstanding articles to the competition.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha also expressed her hope that the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television would continue to cooperate in promoting the regulations and submission deadlines of the 5th National Journalism Award on combating corruption, waste, and negative practices, thereby contributing to the fight against corruption, waste, and negative practices, and making a positive contribution to the building and development of the country.
