"White" score 10 in Math
In general assessment of the results of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam, the Ministry of Education and Training said that the score distribution of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam subjects remained stable, similar to the score distribution in 2023 and previous years. The scores of all subjects were appropriately differentiated to ensure university admissions.
According to the analysis of high school graduation exam scores announced by the Ministry of Education and Training this morning (July 17), Vinh Phuc continues to be the leading province in the country in terms of high school graduation exam scores. Specifically, in Vinh Phuc, the average high school graduation exam score this year is 7.464 points. This is the second consecutive year that this province has led among 63 provinces and cities. This year, the top 10 provinces in the country all have an average high school graduation exam score of over 7. In addition to the 4 provinces mentioned above, there are also Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh, Hai Phong, Phu Tho, Ha Nam , and An Giang.
Notably, the 2024 high school graduation exam results show that Math is the only subject without a score of 10, meaning that there is no valedictorian with a perfect score in the Natural Sciences block. The average score for Math this year is 6.45 (in 2023 it was 6.25). The highest score a student achieved was 7.6 points, similar to 2023. There were 76 failed exams, nearly 183,000 exams with below average scores (17.4%). There were 14 candidates with a score of 9, while there were no 10s.
The average score for Literature is 7.23 points (6.86 points in 2023). The highest score a candidate achieved was 8.0 (7.0 in 2023). There were 68 students with failing scores, over 53,200 exams had below average scores (5.067%). There were 2 exams with a score of 10 in this subject. Specifically, two candidates scored 10 in Literature in the 2024 high school graduation exam in Nam Dinh and Dong Thap.
This year, the top student in the country achieved 29.75 points in group C. The top students in groups A and A1 both achieved 29.6 points. The top students in group B achieved 29.75 points and group D achieved 28.75 points.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam showed that the whole country had 585 failing scores (scores of 1 or lower). Of which, the highest number of failing scores was in English, followed by Geography.
Prediction of multi-component benchmarks to increase
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc - Chairman of the Council of the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has just predicted that the standard scores for the combination of A00, A01, B00, C00, D01 will increase when Physics, especially Chemistry and Geography, have more 10 points than in previous years.
According to Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc, it can be assessed that the 2024 high school exam was successful, safe, serious and the score distribution of the exam met the expectations of educational managers, candidates and parents. Through this year's score distribution, it can be seen that from the exam questions to the results have been stable compared to recent years. From the organization to the results of the exam, it has been implemented in accordance with the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training, maintaining psychological stability for candidates and parents as well as stability in the admission work of universities.
Mr. Duc said that the results of the exam were very objective. On a common knowledge level of the whole country, this year's score distribution can be completely trusted for universities to have a common level for university admission. Through the results of the exam subjects, it can be seen that the exam matrix as well as the basic difficulty level have remained stable and all subjects have had very positive changes. That is shown in the fact that the average score below 5 of all subjects has improved significantly, including subjects such as Math, History, Physics, which are subjects that often have relatively large below average scores. This is a good thing for the quality of general education in the country in general. This result also shows the stability and efforts in studying and teaching of students and teachers, the results are clearly improved compared to previous years. Mr. Duc noted that with the score distribution of subjects such as Physics, especially Chemistry and Geography, the number of 10 points is higher than in previous years, it is predicted that the standard score for the combination A00, A01, B00, C00, D01 will increase.
Through the assessment of the exam score distribution, we still see that the Social Science group, for example Literature and Geography, has a high rate of excellent scores and a low rate of below average scores; meanwhile, Natural Science subjects such as Mathematics and Physics, although the rate of excellent scores has improved, the rate of below average scores is still higher than other subjects. Therefore, the work of orientation and university admission in the Natural Science group needs to be noted and focused more.
After announcing the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam, the Ministry of Education and Training also announced the score distribution of 5 university admission groups, including: A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math. Physics, English), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), C00 (Literature, History, Geography) and D01 (Math, Literature, English).
These are the combinations most used by training institutions for admission. Candidates can refer to the score distribution of these combinations to have more basis for deciding on their university/college admission wishes.
According to the plan, the recognition of high school graduation in 2024 will be completed by July 19 at the latest. Candidates can submit an application for review of their exam results from July 17 to 26. By July 23 at the latest, high schools will issue temporary graduation certificates, print and send exam result certificates to candidates.
From July 18 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30, candidates can register, adjust, and add admission wishes an unlimited number of times. From July 22 to 5:00 p.m. on July 31, candidates applying for direct admission must confirm their admission on the system (if any).
Before 5:00 p.m. on August 19, training institutions will notify candidates who have passed the first round of admission and before 5:00 p.m. on August 27, candidates will confirm their admission online for the first round on the system.
