With $3,000-4,000 in tuition fees per year, international students can study a bachelor's degree in technology at one of the best schools in India.

At the 2023 India Study Abroad Conference on November 24, Mr. Subhash Gupta, Deputy Ambassador of India to Vietnam, said that India currently has the second largest highereducation network in the world with more than 1,000 universities and 42,000 colleges.

Every year, the Indian government grants 50 scholarships to students and more than 150 economic and technological cooperation scholarships to Vietnamese experts.

According to Mr. Subhash, India has more than 2,500 majors in the fields of STEM, Linguistics, Economics, Finance... Vietnamese students can find any course that suits them. Of which, Information Technology is a strong field. Most majors have affordable tuition fees.

"Tuition fees vary depending on the school and city, but if compared to countries with developed education systems like the US, Australia, Canada or the UK, I am confident to say that tuition fees at prestigious schools in India are only one-third, at most 40%, of these countries," said Mr. Subhash.

He said that with a tuition fee of 3,000-4,000 USD (75-100 million VND) per year, international students can completely pursue a bachelor of technology course at one of the best universities in India. This figure is much lower than any average university in Western countries.

Currently in the US and UK, university tuition fees for international students range from 20,000-60,000 USD per year.

In addition to low tuition fees, living expenses in India are also reasonable. According to statistics from the Indian Ministry of Education, the total monthly expenses including housing, food, transportation, phone bills, and personal expenses of an international student is 400 USD (more than 9.7 million VND).

Another advantage for Vietnamese students is that there are 50 direct flights between India and Vietnam every week. Indian cuisine and culture are diverse, helping international students adapt easily.

"Thanks to the cultural similarities, Vietnamese students will feel at home when they come to India. If you are from Hanoi, you will feel the same weather in Delhi. And if you are from Saigon, you will like the weather in Mumbai," said Mr. Subhash.

According to Mr. Manoj Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of EdCIL, an educational consultancy firm under the Indian Ministry of Education, more than 3,000 Vietnamese students are pursuing specialist programmes and over 1,000 others are pursuing government scholarships. The number of Vietnamese students studying in India on their own is also increasing.

English and Information Technology (IT) are the two most popular majors among Vietnamese students. All majors in India are taught in English. English degrees are also internationally recognized. As for the IT program, Mr. Manoj affirmed that it is quickly updated with world trends.

"We have produced many leaders of international technology companies," said Mr. Manoj, adding that in the future, he will further promote information about studying in India.

This year’s India Education Fair has the participation of 13 universities, colleges and institutes. Many schools have 100% scholarship programs for Vietnamese students.
