Never back down
“In 2025, the Vietnam Shooting Team has a number of important goals and my teammates and I will do our best in both spirit and expertise to achieve effective scores. Each tournament is a challenge to be determined to conquer,” shooter Trinh Thu Vinh expressed before leaving to compete in the 2025 ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany.
Professionally, Trinh Thu Vinh started this year with positive results when she won the Gold Medal in the 10m Air Pistol Men's and Women's Team (with Pham Quang Huy) at the 2025 Asian Championship (February 2025). This success continued the good results that Thu Vinh had achieved in 2024.
Last year, the female shooter, who is currently serving in the People's Public Security Sports Department, was honored to be voted to the top of the list of 10 Outstanding National Athletes of 2024 and was the Best Female Athlete of the Victory Cup Award in 2024. She continued to receive the title of Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face of 2024 at the ceremony in March 2025.
“I attended the 2024 Paris Olympics (France) and won 4th place in the women's 10m air pistol event. During the competition, I faced a lot of psychological pressure, but when I calmed down, I achieved a certain level of comfort,” Thu Vinh recalled.
Among Vietnamese shooters, Trinh Thu Vinh is considered by many coaches to be a brave person and shows this when standing in front of the shooting platform.
Trinh Thu Vinh will continue to train the Vietnam Shooting Team from January 2025. During the training period, the female player and her teammates in the pistol group must complete the training plan provided by the Mongolian expert and the coaching staff.
"Each training session, each bullet fired must be accurate so that the shooter has the confidence to not make mistakes in real competition," Thu Vinh once expressed.
Believe in yourself
The important goal that the Vietnam shooting team is preparing for Trinh Thu Vinh is to achieve high results at the 20th ASIAD in 2026 in Japan. She attended the 19th ASIAD in China but did not win a medal. The Vietnam shooting team has determined the goal of trying to win the highest medal at the 20th ASIAD, so Trinh Thu Vinh is in the group of key shooters that are focused on investing to compete.
The competition and training program carried out by the Vietnam Shooting Team with key shooters (including Trinh Thu Vinh) is to help the players build the most effective competitive feeling. ASIAD 20 is the main goal, but SEA Games 33 held in December this year will be the place for the players to demonstrate their mettle. Thu Vinh aims to win a Gold Medal at SEA Games 33.
“I won the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol Individual and the Gold Medal in the Men’s and Women’s Team at the 2025 Asian Shooting Championships,” she shared. “The tournament was held in Thailand, on the shooting range that will be used for the shooting event at the 33rd SEA Games. This was also an opportunity for me to get acquainted, experience and grasp the facilities for the upcoming SEA Games.”
Vietnam's number 1 female shooter believes she has enough chance to change her performance to achieve the best result at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh is one of the outstanding individuals nominated for honor at the Vietnam Glory 2025 program.
