Hanoi opens event to introduce OCOP products associated with the culture of Southern provinces

On the evening of June 19, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Ba Trung District to organize the opening event to introduce OCOP products associated with the culture of the Southern provinces.

The event was organized with a scale of more than 100 booths and about 1,000 craft village products, safe agricultural and food products and OCOP products from districts, towns and cities in Hanoi and 42 provinces and cities nationwide.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Chief of Office of the Hanoi City New Rural Development Program Coordination Office Ngo Van Ngon said that the OCOP Program is a key program for economic development in rural areas in the direction of promoting internal resources and increasing value.

This is an important solution and task in implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the 2021-2025 period; aiming to promote the proactiveness, creativity, and cooperative spirit of entities and communities to develop OCOP products, meet market requirements, and aim to create jobs, increase income for people, and preserve traditional culture.

Implementing the OCOP Program, from 2019 to present, Hanoi city has evaluated and classified 3,317 OCOP products (accounting for 21.3% of the country). Hanoi is also the leading locality in the country in terms of the number of OCOP products.

For the sustainable development of OCOP products, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and central ministries and branches to continue to pay attention to and support the evaluation and classification of 5-star OCOP products; pay attention to supporting trade promotion, connecting supply and demand for Hanoi OCOP products through fairs, promotions, and product introductions at home and abroad...

The Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment also requested departments, branches and localities in the city to continue to promote and support participants in the OCOP Program so that OCOP products can increasingly spread in rural areas; at the same time, promote production organization in the direction of value chain linkage, in order to increase the value of OCOP products.

The event introducing OCOP products associated with the culture of the Southern provinces took place over 5 days (from June 18 to 22) at Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi).
