Green tourism becomes mainstream
The highlight of many tourism products in the Mekong Delta localities is sightseeing, experience, entertainment, recreation, and resort tourism associated with river ecosystems, natural landscapes, marine and island tourism resources, relics, and cultural values, demonstrating a green, environmentally friendly development orientation.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, Dao Thi Thanh Thuy, with over 70 tourist spots and areas, including many eco-tourism areas and garden tours, Can Tho is the choice of many tourists. In particular, summer is also the season of ripe fruit in many gardens growing rambutan, mangosteen, Ha Chau strawberries, star apples, etc., so tourists have the opportunity to visit, admire the beautiful scenery and enjoy the interesting garden fruits.
At the beginning of the summer tourist season, right during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, Can Tho 's tourism revenue increased by 15% compared to the same period in 2024, the occupancy rate of accommodation rooms during the holidays at many establishments reached 85-90%, promising that Can Tho tourism will continue to attract tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoang, Deputy Director of My Khanh Tourist Village (Phong Dien District, Can Tho) informed that as the first OCOP product in the tourism product group of Can Tho to be awarded the OCOP star (One Commune One Product Program), My Khanh Tourist Village with more than 30 hectares has many unique spaces and tourism products. It is a green space with seasonal fruit gardens, fish ponds, ancient Southern houses, canals, culinary enjoyment areas, organizing folk games, helping visitors have many diverse experiences imbued with the character of the Southwest region.
In the land of green coconut Ben Tre, in this year's summer tourist season, eco-tourism products, visiting relics, and craft villages continue to be the main products introduced to tourists. According to the representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ben Tre province, the province currently has over 50 outstanding tourist areas and attractions, many quality accommodation facilities, meeting the needs of tourism, relaxation, entertainment, and experiencing the cool green space of islands, gardens or vast rivers.
Ms. Doan Thi My Nhu, Director of Vam Ho Tourist Farm - Bird Sanctuary (Ba Tri District, Ben Tre) said that visitors to the tourist farm and bird sanctuary can take a boat ride on the Ba Lai River, admire the peaceful landscape, observe the rhythm of village life or walk in the green garden, bird sanctuary, learn about folk culture through legends, and enjoy the cuisine.
Diverse cultural experiences
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho, to bring unique features to tourism, exploiting rural tourism products, community eco-tourism associated with products under the OCOP program (One Commune One Product Program) is one of the development directions implemented by the city. Thereby, not only promoting agricultural products, local specialties but also preserving cultural identity, increasing income for people. At the beginning of May, the OCOP product introduction and sales point at Can Tho ECO resort was opened, helping to connect, add product consumption channels, tourists visit, shop and learn about local culture through traditional production occupations and products.
From the perspective of a tour operator, Mr. Vo Van Phong, Director of C2T Media and Tourism Company, Ben Tre, shared that in order to attract tourists, many tourism and culinary products that businesses are serving tourists are "intentionally" associated with the culture of the Coconut land, the culture of rivers, gardens, and islands. Sometimes it is just small items used in meals to invite guests such as coconut chopsticks, food served in coconut shells or invitations, the way of introducing dishes are familiar folk songs that make tourists feel like they are "touching" the soul of the countryside.
Regarding tourism in the land of pink lotus Dong Thap, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province Huynh Thi Hoai Thu said that currently, one of the highlights, bringing tourists to experience the culture and community life in Dong Thap is the rural market model exploiting tourism, creating a space for trading goods and preserving cultural features associated with tourism development.
Accordingly, Tan Thuan Dong rural market (Cao Lanh city) operates periodically every Saturday, recreating the old market scene with many stalls selling typical local products such as traditional cakes, fruits, seafood, OCOP products, exchange activities, performances of traditional music - Dong Thap folk songs, and folk games.

Go Thap rural market (Thap Muoi district), operating in the afternoon and evening every Saturday of the last week of the month, sells typical local products such as agricultural products, seafood, and traditional dishes. Long Thuan rural market (Hong Ngu district) operates in the afternoon and evening every Saturday with many stalls serving rustic dishes, dried fish, and especially a stall providing products from the famous Long Khanh weaving village. Tram Chim rural market (Tam Nong district) takes place in the afternoon and evening every Saturday with 40 stalls outside serving traditional cakes, OCOP products, and typical rural agricultural products of Tam Nong district.
Rural markets exploiting tourism activities in Dong Thap continue to be maintained and developed, helping people increase their income, while promoting the image and unique cultural features of the locality in the coming time.
