Hanoi's tourism sector welcomed over 21 million visitors in the first nine months of the year.

Thus, from the beginning of the year until now, the tourism industry of Hanoi has welcomed 21.12 million visitors, an increase of 11.7% compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, international tourists reached 4.45 million, an increase of 40.8% compared to the same period in 2023, and domestic tourists reached 16.66 million, an increase of 5.8% compared to the same period in 2023.

In September 2024, the average hotel occupancy rate reached 64.3%, an increase of 6.73% compared to the same period in 2023. Thus, over the past nine months, the average hotel occupancy rate is estimated at 62.6%, an increase of 1.6% compared to the same period in 2023. Hanoi has 3,761 accommodation establishments with 71,246 rooms, including 606 hotels and apartment complexes that have been rated from 1 to 5 stars.

The system of shopping, dining, and entertainment facilities meeting tourist service standards has attracted and served a large number of tourists and locals who come to visit and shop. Due to the high number of visitors, total tourism revenue in the first nine months reached 81,932 billion VND, an increase of 18.5% compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Dang Huong Giang, from now until the end of 2024, the focus will be on promoting new types of tourism such as: adventure sports tourism, experiential tourism, virtual reality tourism, etc. The development of MICE tourism will be promoted in locations with advantages in resorts and golf tourism, linked to the organization and hosting of cultural, sports, political , and social events, as well as major national and international festivals. The development and connection of unique and distinctive tourism products of Hanoi will also be innovated.

The focus will be on building and perfecting the connection between individual tourism products to create a chain of unique and attractive products. The connection between Hanoi's tourism products and the distinctive tourism products of localities in the Red River Delta, Northwest, and Northeast regions will be expanded. In addition, the Department of Tourism will develop a pilot model for developing agricultural and rural tourism economy linked to the construction of new rural areas in the city.

Develop tourism products in Hanoi, including resort tourism and agricultural tourism, connecting with the Tam Chuc (Ha Nam province) - Bai Dinh - Trang An (Ninh Binh province) cultural and religious tourism route; connect with the Cat Ba (Hai Phong) - Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province) beach and resort tourism route; and form experiential and community tourism routes such as the Hanoi - Lao Cai - Lai Chau route and the Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Son La - Dien Bien route.
