According to data from the People's Committee of Viet Tri City ( Phu Tho province), during the days when the Vietnamese national football team competed in the ASEAN Cup 2024, the occupancy rate of hotels in the city center and the area near Viet Tri Stadium reached 70-90%, with the most popular hotels being Saigon - Phu Tho Hotel, Muong Thanh Hotel, SOJO Hotel, Viet Tri Garden Hotel, etc.
Ms. Nguyen Vi Hong Thanh, manager of SOJO Hotel Viet Tri, said that during the past weekend (December 28-29), when the Vietnamese national team played the second leg of the semi-final match in Viet Tri, the hotel recorded an occupancy rate of approximately 90%. "The first leg of the final on January 2nd, 2025 will attract a large number of tourists to Viet Tri, and we expect the hotel's occupancy rate to reach 90% or higher. SOJO Hotel Viet Tri has made thorough preparations to ensure the best experience for guests, in terms of equipment and staff... We have also created a community space, a football viewing area in the hotel lobby, where people can cheer together, creating a lively and cohesive atmosphere."
According to Ms. Nguyen Vi Hong Thanh, if sports and cultural events are organized regularly, Viet Tri will become one of the leading destinations in the region, contributing to the sustainable development of tourism in the locality.
"Major events like football matches or cultural festivals not only boost the tourism industry but also bring many practical benefits. In terms of increasing destination attractiveness, Viet Tri will become more widely known as an ideal location for national and international events. Regarding economic development, these events increase revenue for service industries such as accommodation, food and beverage, and transportation, while also creating job opportunities for the local people. Furthermore, they encourage investment in upgrading tourism and event infrastructure, thereby improving the overall quality of services."

Mr. Nguyen Dac Thuy, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province, said that in addition to doing a good job of preparing the infrastructure and competition conditions at Viet Tri Stadium according to Asian standards, the locality is also actively improving the image of Phu Tho tourism and also the image of the nation.
"This occasion has attracted considerable attention from both domestic and international sources in Phu Tho, so we have established a Steering Committee and inspection teams to ensure the quality of accommodation services, food safety and hygiene, security and order, and traffic safety. Restaurants and tourism service establishments have committed to not raising prices excessively."
In addition, the Phu Tho Tourism Promotion Information Center is also actively introducing and advising on tourist routes and destinations on its website and at accommodation establishments; connecting tourists with famous destinations such as Hung Temple, experiencing Xoan singing at Hung Lo communal house, exploring Xuan Son National Park or Thanh Thuy hot springs... We are ready to serve tourists who come to watch football as well as those who stay in Phu Tho for sightseeing and relaxation."

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Son, Chairman of the Phu Tho Tourism Association, in recent years, Viet Tri city and Phu Tho province in general have become accustomed to hosting large events, including sports activities. Upgraded infrastructure and the development of many tourist routes and destinations have helped to retain visitors from afar in Phu Tho.
"The Phu Tho Tourism Association is guiding local units and areas such as Tam Nong, Thanh Thuy, Thanh Son, Long Coc... to promote information and products so that tourists have more choices. We are gradually expanding the tourism space in Phu Tho, creating new experiences including sports tourism, golf tourism... to diversify products and reduce seasonality instead of focusing only on the peak spring travel season - the Hung Temple festival each year," said Mr. Tran Thanh Son.
