Since the beginning of 2025, the number of passengers entering and exiting through Huu Nghi international border gate, Lang Son province, has recorded an increase of 16% over the same period last year.

This figure clearly reflects the increasing demand for border trade and tourism through the international border gate pair Huu Nghi (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (China).

In early July 2025, at Huu Nghi international border gate, the immigration and exit activities were bustling from 7am to 8pm every day.

Although the passenger traffic was heavy, there was no jostling or pushing; people lined up in the correct lane, in order, following the instructions of the Border Guard force.

According to the Huu Nghi International Border Gate Border Guard Station, on average every day there are thousands of passengers carrying out exit and entry procedures.

Statistics from the beginning of 2025 to now, the unit has processed procedures for more than 1.24 million people, an increase of 16% over the same period last year. Of which, exit and entry by passport reached over 430,000 people (up 5.8%), while exit and entry by travel document reached over 810,000 people (up 22.5%).

Passengers are mainly Chinese and Vietnamese citizens for the purpose of visiting relatives, traveling, and working.

In particular, from April 2025, the "two-day, one-night" tourist route between Lang Son (Vietnam) and Pingxiang (China) will officially open with a travel permit, organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lang Son province in coordination with the People's Government of Pingxiang town.

This tourist route has attracted a large number of tourists to visit, shop, and explore the culture of the border region.

To ensure stable and safe immigration and exit activities, the Border Guard force works in shifts, assigns officers to be on duty at all control positions, and makes maximum use of technology in electronic declaration and flexible flow coordination to help passengers avoid long waiting times.

Major Trinh Van Bac, Deputy Head of the Border Guard Station at Huu Nghi International Border Gate, said that the control process is carried out synchronously, closed, and in accordance with regulations. Accordingly, when visitors from the inland go to the border, at barrier number 2, the Border Guard force will initially check the documents, means of transport and guide them to the area for exit and entry procedures.

After completing the necessary procedures, passengers move to barrier number 1 (marker area 1116) to exit to China; here the Border Guard will re-check the documents and this is the final control process, ensuring there are no errors...

“We always proactively arrange appropriate forces at each location, regulate appropriate passenger traffic to avoid congestion and ensure security and order at the border gate area,” said Major Trinh Van Bac.

Along with the Border Guard force, the Huu Nghi International Border Gate Customs also increased the number of officers operating specialized inspection equipment such as luggage scanners and drug detectors at both exit and entry channels.

The parking management unit also regulates passenger transportation reasonably, minimizing crowds that cause disorder and insecurity.

Lieutenant Colonel Doan Duy Tien, Head of the Huu Nghi International Border Gate Border Guard Station, assessed that this is a road border gate with a large volume of vehicles and passengers entering and exiting the country, especially at times when there is a sudden increase.

Faced with that situation, the unit proactively regulated vehicles, divided traffic, and closely coordinated with Chinese authorities and travel companies to promptly handle the situation, creating the most favorable conditions for passengers.

“We base on the personnel approval document of the Immigration Department (Ministry of Public Security) and the list provided by travel companies to pre-print visas, shortening the processing time for tourist groups.

In the coming time, the unit will continue to coordinate with the Chinese Border Guard and travel companies to grasp the number of visitors and proactively deploy effective support solutions," Senior Colonel Doan Duy Tien emphasized.
