The bill, introduced by representatives Al Green (Texas) and Judy Chu (California), aims to address "real estate discrimination," preventing any state from "prohibiting or restricting individuals from purchasing real estate based on the buyer's nationality."
The bill would give the US Attorney General the power to block the measure, while individuals affected by a state’s regulations could file a civil lawsuit against that state. The bill is supported by at least 28 Asian American groups.
