New Phong Chau Bridge to be put into operation in 2025

The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 484/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the meeting on the investment in the new Phong Chau bridge on National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha directed the application of the emergency construction investment management mechanism, putting the new Phong Chau bridge into operation in 2025.

The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the drastic participation of the Central and local ministries, branches in implementing the direction of the Party, State and Government leaders on the investment in the construction of the new Phong Chau bridge. In order to implement the project investment in the fastest time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Transport to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Phu Tho province and relevant agencies: Apply the current mechanisms on management of investment in construction of urgent construction works to carry out the steps of surveying, designing and constructing the project, ensuring the fastest progress.

Specifically, in December 2024, complete the survey, design, approval of the investment project and start construction; before the 2025 storm season, complete the bridge foundation volume (before April 2025); complete the remaining work to put the project into operation in 2025. The Ministry of Transport promotes the spirit of implementing the construction of the 500KV line project, circuit 3, Quang Trach - Pho Noi section in the past time to direct the implementation of construction with the spirit of "3 shifts, 4 shifts", "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to the storm", "eating and sleeping urgently", "not enough work during the day, taking advantage of the night", "only discussing work, not discussing backtracking"; build detailed progress critical paths to complete the project to ensure quality requirements, avoiding waste and negativity. The Ministry of Planning and Investment coordinates with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport to allocate the 2024 central budget reserve fund for the project according to their authority and legal regulations, ensuring the project's progress requirements. Previously, the collapse of Phong Chau bridge on National Highway 32C in Phu Tho province caused great damage to people and property, disrupted traffic on National Highway 32C, and affected the economic development and people's lives in Phu Tho province and localities in the region. It is urgent and necessary to promptly overcome the consequences and accelerate the progress of investment in the construction of the new Phong Chau bridge./.
