According to a parent named H., at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, she paid 632,000 VND to the school's office to buy a 1-year health insurance card for her child.

In July, Ms. H.'s child had to be hospitalized for treatment, but the hospital informed her that the student's health insurance card had expired for 7 months. At that time, Ms. H. confirmed that she had paid the school for the health insurance card in full. However, no matter how she explained, the hospital still did not accept it, so Ms. H. had to pay the entire hospital fee of more than 3 million VND for her child's treatment.

"When I went to the school to ask, I received a notice that the school's secretary did not pay for health insurance card renewals for many students, including my child. This action has affected the rights of the students," said Ms. H.

Speaking with VietNamNet reporters at noon on September 27, Mr. Nguyen Huu Luat, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Buon Ma Thuot City, confirmed that medical staff at Mac Thi Buoi Primary School "forgot" to pay insurance for many students.

According to Mr. Luat, after discovering the incident, the unit directed the school to require this employee to write a report and self-criticism to submit to the school and then report to the Department of Education and Training of Buon Ma Thuot City.

"Currently, we have asked the school to resolve the issue appropriately so that students are not disadvantaged. In addition to the case of the hospitalized student mentioned above, the medical staff of Mac Thi Buoi Primary School also "forgot" to buy health insurance cards for many other students, so we have to review everything to come up with an appropriate solution," said Mr. Luat.

According to information, there are currently more than 87 students of Mac Thi Buoi Primary School whose health care staff "forgot" to buy health insurance cards even though they had paid.
