On the afternoon of May 26, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that after a tourist violated and damaged the Nguyen Dynasty throne - a national treasure in Thai Hoa Palace, the unit directed the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum to bring the Nguyen Dynasty throne to preserve and maintain at the unit's antiques warehouse; at the same time, put the restored throne on display at Thai Hoa Palace to serve tourists.
According to Mr. Tran Dinh Than, Head of the Protection Management Department of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, after the incident, security forces at the relic sites have been instructed to raise their vigilance. Mobile teams have increased inspections, patrols, and are ready to support when incidents occur.
"We have proposed that the leaders of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center adjust the protection plan, especially at locations with national treasures," said Mr. Tran Dinh Than.


On the afternoon of May 26, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee inspected the work of protecting relics and national artifacts and treasures at the Hue Monuments Complex.
The delegation inspected the security work at Thai Hoa Palace - Hue Imperial City, where a visitor violated and broke the armrest (left side) of the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh directed the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and related units to review management and protection work and have urgent solutions at important relic sites and areas displaying valuable artifacts.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, the incident of the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, being violated is a regrettable incident with very serious consequences.
The Hue City People's Committee reported the incident to the Government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and requested relevant agencies to quickly come up with solutions to better preserve precious artifacts and national treasures in the area.
Hue City re-evaluated the situation, requested a review and review of the responsibilities of each individual and organization. In particular, it provided lessons learned and developed plans to better protect national treasures, artifacts, and relics as a whole.
The Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee assigned the responsibility to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to coordinate with the Hue City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop plans to protect national relics, treasures and valuable artifacts in accordance with the provisions of law.

On the same day, inspecting the display and protection of artifacts and national treasures at the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh requested to strengthen protection work and prevent unexpected situations. In addition to assigning and arranging appropriate human resources, it is necessary to increase the application of technology to preserve and ensure absolute safety for relics and artifacts.

“Heritage is not only the property of the State but also of each citizen. Any act of lack of awareness can cause irreparable consequences. We hope that the community and people will join hands to protect the cultural heritage that Hue is fortunate to preserve,” Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized.
