Bringing traditional Vietnamese art to EXPO 2025 audiences

The World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will take place from April 13 to October 13 on Yumeshima Island, Osaka, Japan with the participation of 158 countries and international organizations. The Vietnam Exhibition House at EXPO 2025 is organized and operated by the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

At the Exhibition, Vietnam aims to introduce to international friends the quintessence of national culture in an impressive and highest quality way through professional, dedicated artists and extensive, continuous performance and cooperation activities. Along with water puppetry, art performances and interactive programs contribute to the successful promotion of Vietnamese culture, country and people, while enhancing friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnam and the international community.

The program “Beauty of Vietnam” taking place on the afternoon of April 19 is the beginning of a series of unique cultural and artistic activities of the Vietnam Exhibition House at EXPO 2025. The location of the program – the Inner stage – is one of the 5 outdoor stages of EXPO 2025, with a “prime” location right in the center of the square, opposite the Vietnam, France, USA, Malaysia Exhibition Houses… and very close to the Japan Exhibition House. This will also be one of the familiar locations for art performances, exhibitions, and outdoor events organized by the Vietnam Exhibition House during the next 6 months at EXPO 2025.

During the program, Japanese and international audiences immersed themselves in Vietnamese folk melodies, representing the culture of the three regions of North, Central and South, such as the Concerto "Luu Thuy - Kim Tien - Xuan Phong - Long Ho", "Cung Dan Dat Nuoc", "Tinh Que Huong"... Not only enjoying the art, the audience was also invited to the stage to try playing the monochord, T'rung, K'long put, bamboo flute, traditional drum... This unexpected invitation received an enthusiastic response from the audience. Ms. Yuka from Kyoto said: "This is the first time I have enjoyed traditional Vietnamese music . I am very impressed with the monochord. It looks very simple on the outside, but to be able to play it into a song, it is really a lot of work".

The Department of International Cooperation said that within the framework of EXPO 2025, in addition to daily traditional art programs at the Exhibition Hall and at some outdoor stages, in June, saxophone artist Bao Anh Taruki, son of People's Artist Thai Bao, will have a tour at EXPO 2025; in August, more than 40 Vietnamese and Japanese dancers will dance yosakoi and introduce Bac Ninh Quan Ho to the EXPO audience... In particular, Vietnam National Day (September 9) promises to be the biggest "cultural feast" for the EXPO 2025 audience... In addition, the Exhibition Hall is also ready to welcome and support Vietnamese artists at home and abroad who want to participate in performances, exchanges, introductions, and promotion of Vietnamese culture and arts within the framework of EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
