President To Lam receives Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki

During the meeting, President To Lam congratulated Ambassador Ito Naoki on his appointment by the Japanese Government as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam at a crucial time when the two countries have just upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and successfully organized activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2023.

The President expressed satisfaction with the significant and positive progress in bilateral relations in recent times. Multifaceted cooperation between the two countries is becoming increasingly close and interconnected, with frequent exchanges of high-level and other delegations, economic cooperation continues to be a main pillar, and the exchange and connection of human resources are becoming increasingly close.

Acknowledging the cultural similarities and complementary potential and advantages between the two countries, the President affirmed Vietnam's desire to work with Japan to effectively and substantively implement the recently upgraded Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework, meeting the interests and aspirations of the people of both countries and making a positive contribution to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region.

President To Lam requested Ambassador Ito Naoki to effectively leverage his role as a policy advocate and an important bridge in the bilateral relationship; actively coordinate to concretize the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with key tasks such as promoting political trust, strengthening substantive cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, investment, especially infrastructure, labor, human resource training, local cooperation, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchanges.

Ambassador Ito Naoki expressed his pleasure at beginning his term in Vietnam amidst the remarkable progress made in bilateral relations over the past period; he emphasized that the most important task during his time in Vietnam is to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan towards the next 50 years, focusing on economic cooperation, human resource training, cultural exchange, local cooperation, and tourism, etc.

Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed that he would closely coordinate with ministries, departments, and localities to implement the agreements and common understandings between the high-level leaders of the two countries, contributing to the increasingly comprehensive and substantive development of Vietnam-Japan relations.
