Connect

The program connecting trade between enterprises, cooperatives, and production and business establishments in Hue city, bringing local products into the supply chain of Central Retail Vietnam Group (CRC) has just been organized by the Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Enterprise Support of Hue city, attracting more than 37 participating enterprises. At the program, Hue enterprises were able to contact, connect, and consult 1:1 with purchasing management representatives of Central Retail Vietnam Group, opening up many opportunities to bring Hue enterprises' products into the distribution system of Central Group.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, Director of the City's Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Enterprise Support, Central Retail Group owns a network of leading brands, providing multi-sector products in many models such as: Department stores, convenience stores, specialties, supermarkets, shopping malls and online shopping through multi-channel platforms in Thailand, Vietnam and Italy. Therefore, this connection activity will be a premise for businesses in the city to learn about the process, introduce products to participate in the distribution network of goods at GO! Hue supermarket, GO! Huong Tra mini supermarket and systems of Central Retail Group Vietnam.

In fact, the above mentioned supporting activities have shown positive results, more and more products of Hue enterprises are now available on the shelves of large supermarkets. In addition to products that have established brands such as Thien Huong sesame candy, Duc Phuong Royal Tea, etc., currently, products of start-up enterprises such as Royal Bo Chinh Ginseng, YESHUE spices, etc. are also available on the shelves of large supermarkets.

Ms. Ho Nhat Phuong, CEO of SBC Hoang Gia, said that currently, SBC Hoang Gia products are available at Go! Hue Supermarket and GO! Huong Tra mini supermarket. Bringing products to supermarkets is an important basis for businesses to position their brands in the market, affirming the quality and design of their products.

Industry representatives work with businesses

Products need to be standardized

It is undeniable that the recent support from departments and branches has created a basic foundation for businesses to easily access large distributors. However, to participate deeply in these supply chains, businesses need to proactively participate.

According to research, to bring goods into the Central Group distribution system, suppliers need to meet quality and safety standards, comply with legal regulations and specific requirements of Central Retail on packaging and labeling. Products must have full documents proving origin, quality and food safety (if food). In addition, suppliers need to be able to supply stably, meet the quantity and delivery time required by the distribution system.

At the recent program connecting businesses, cooperatives, production and business establishments in the city with Central Retail Group, a representative of Central Retail Group Vietnam pointed out that businesses need to standardize products from design to quality to easily participate in the system. Regarding the process of importing goods into the Central Group system, it is carried out in steps and the first step is the procedure for approving documents. Suppliers will send documents to the purchasing department of GO/BigC, approve legal documents, documents on food hygiene and safety, prices and delivery specifications and the purchasing department will evaluate the actual facilities of the supplier. Regarding quality documents, they include: Self-declared quality documents; certificate of facility meeting food hygiene and safety conditions; product testing certificate at the time of announcement according to Decree 15/2018/ND-CP, nutritional index testing certificate as on the label; OCOP certificate; HACCP (if any).

The processes then include: Negotiating and signing contracts; Central Retail creating cooperative and goods data into the system; ordering and delivering goods; performing payment procedures.

Sharing her experience in joining the Central Group system, Ms. Ho Nhat Phuong said that bringing products to supermarkets is a process, the most important thing is that the products must be "standardized" in terms of both quality and legal documents such as quality declaration, food safety and hygiene certification, traceability... Each product has its own standards, but the common point is to be serious with the market, do it for real, do it properly and do it thoroughly. In addition, we also have to research the market because in reality, not all products can be sold in supermarkets.

Not meeting product standardization criteria is the biggest obstacle for businesses when introducing products to the Central Group distribution system and other large distribution systems. Therefore, in addition to policies to support product trade promotion through trade connection activities, seminars, and product promotion programs, departments, branches, and sectors have implemented many policies to support businesses in standardizing products; investing in machinery and production equipment; and 1:1 consulting programs for businesses. This will be an important foundation for businesses to invest in bringing their products to participate more in large distribution systems at home and abroad.
