By 11pm on July 22, dozens of officers and soldiers, after many hours of firefighting, had completely extinguished the fire at the scrap warehouse located in alley 65, Xuan Thoi Thuong 7-1 street, hamlet 5, Ba Diem commune, Ho Chi Minh City.

Earlier, at around 7 p.m. the same day, a fire broke out and spread rapidly at a scrap warehouse of hundreds of square meters, creating a column of suffocating black smoke. Next to the scrap warehouse is a wood workshop, so the area is full of flammable materials, causing the fire to grow larger and larger, threatening the safety of dozens of houses of surrounding residents.

Residents called on their relatives to move their belongings outside to avoid the fire spreading and used water hoses and mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire but could not control it. Fire Police Team KV19 (Fire Police and Rescue Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police) mobilized nearly 10 vehicles and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.

The fire was in an alley, and fire trucks could not reach it, so a hose was extended dozens of meters into the alley to reach the scene. A fire police team had to break through a wall to bring the hose deeper inside, and also pull the hose through a house to shorten the distance to fight the fire.

After many hours of firefighting, the fire was brought under control. There were no casualties, but the scrap warehouse and a wood workshop burned and collapsed. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department coordinated with Ba Diem Commune Police to examine the scene, estimate the damage and clarify the cause of the fire.
