According to the Quang Ninh Provincial Police, recently, many fake videos impersonating doctors and medical experts have appeared on YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, etc., created by individuals using AI and Deepfake technology to deceive people.

These videos often use images of real doctors, edited transcripts of their statements, and insert logos of reputable hospitals or news organizations to build trust with viewers. The content is usually sensational with titles like "Cures without medicine," "Recovered in a few days," "Doctors reveal medical secrets," etc., to attract views and play on people's anxieties about their health.

After gaining trust, the perpetrators often lure viewers into contacting them via private messages or joining "health advice" or "treatment support" groups on Facebook, Zalo, Telegram, etc. There, they continue to impersonate doctors or medical staff to extract information about medical conditions, advise on "special treatment protocols," and promote medications, dietary supplements, or traditional medicine products of unknown origin at high prices.

In many cases, these individuals require people to transfer deposit money, pay for treatment costs in advance, or purchase "exclusive treatment packages" in order to secure a spot and have medication delivered to their homes.

In addition to the purpose of stealing assets, the perpetrators also collect personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, images of identification documents, bank account information, medical conditions, etc., to facilitate other fraudulent activities or the illegal buying and selling of personal data.

According to the Quang Ninh Provincial Police, the consequences of these fake videos are very serious. Many people believe the misinformation, self-medicate, or abandon their prescribed hospital treatment plans, leading to worsening conditions. Numerous cases involve people being tricked into buying substandard products at high prices or losing money participating in online "treatment regimens."

In particular, the elderly – a group with less access to technology and more likely to trust "expert advice" content – are often targeted by scammers.

To protect citizens from the risk of online fraud, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Quang Ninh Provincial Police recommends:

- Carefully verify information about doctors, hospitals, or medical facilities before trusting any health-related content on social media. Only refer to information from official sources;

- Do not buy medicines or dietary supplements from YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, or websites of unknown origin; only buy from licensed establishments;

- Do not transfer money, provide personal information, medical conditions, or bank account details to health advice accounts or groups of unknown origin;

- Be wary of videos advertising "complete cure," "100% cure," "no medication needed," or advising patients to abandon their hospital treatment plan.

When discovering channels or videos that appear to impersonate doctors or involve health-related scams, people should report them to the police for timely action; at the same time, they should educate and advise their relatives, especially the elderly, to be vigilant to avoid being scammed.
