Mobile Police Force (Provincial Police) together with representatives of the Party Committee and government of Nung Nang commune (old) handed over houses and gifts to poor households in Xi Mien Khan village.
To complete 29 "3-hard" houses for poor households at the beginning of the rainy season, officers and soldiers of the Provincial Police Department had to double their determination. Lieutenant Colonel Vu Viet Dung - Head of the Police Department told us: If temporary houses for poor households are eliminated, they must find suitable locations. In the central area, where economic conditions are good, temporary houses can be counted on the fingers and have been implemented by authorities at all levels. As for poor households living in patchwork houses in remote villages, they must go there and directly build houses for the people, which is valuable.
Indeed, the weather seems to test people’s hearts when poor households need to build new houses in locations with many steep passes, uneven terrain, slippery, landslides that hinder the transportation of materials. Not only that, the site for building houses is also difficult to arrange. Sweat soaking the back of the shirt, wet then dry, calloused hands, footprints imprinted on the steep slope… all are living proof of the hearts of soldiers “serving the people”, regardless of the sun or rain, not afraid of hardship.
The task of clearing temporary houses for mobile soldiers was all in difficult communes of Nam Nhun district (old) such as: Nam Pi (11 houses), Muong Mo (12 houses), Hua Bum (4 houses) and 2 houses in Si Mien Khan village (Nung Nang commune, old Tam Duong district). 75 officers and soldiers who were used to training, being on duty, being armed, patrolling, guarding, protecting targets, and going out to carry out missions, now became diligent construction workers in any harsh weather.
Lieutenant Colonel Ly Van Ha - Deputy Head of the Mobile Police Department recounted an unforgettable story in the campaign to overcome the sun and rain to remove temporary houses for the people. He said: At first, not understanding the significance of the work of the police force, many people were indifferent to building new houses for their own families. However, after a week of mass mobilization work, the people understood, participated in dismantling, gathering materials for reuse, and together with the police officers and construction workers, urgently started construction and completed the house.
Perhaps the most memorable memory of the team members is the journey to bring a solid house to the family of Giang Seo Din in Pa Bon village, Nam Pi commune (now Le Loi commune). Because he wanted a son to continue the family line, he and his wife had 5 children but still could not fulfill their wish. At the same time, poverty followed him, to have a solid house for his wife and children, he only dared to dream. And, that dream has now come true and was exchanged for the hardships and difficulties of the CSCĐ soldiers. In many areas where there were no roads, they had to use hoes, shovels, and machetes to clear the road in steep slopes and deep ravines to transport materials to build a house for Mr. Din's family. Then they dismantled the corrugated iron roof to make a trough to drop sand, bricks, and cement down to the assembly location. The sun and rain were erratic, sweat mixed with rainwater, drying then getting wet; The tanned skin from rigorous training sessions on the training ground could not be any darker… It took 10 days for the materials to be transported to the assembly point and within a month, the house was completed and handed over to the surprise and joy of Mr. Din's family.
Not only Mr. Din’s family, there are couples who have been married for decades but have not been able to have children like Mr. Phan Van Gun’s family (Pa Sap village) because they are afraid that after having children, they will not have the conditions to raise and take care of them. When the uniforms of the CSCĐ soldiers appeared, the house was built, the keys were handed over along with the blessings for the love to bear fruit and blossom, Mr. Gun’s heart began to beat faster again… The dream of not having to live in a leaky, wet house has come true.
But the joy did not stop there, the poor families were also mobilized by the CSCĐ force, connecting with benefactors to support the cost of buying beds, blankets, bowls, chopsticks, buckets, water tanks and even solar energy...
Each completed house is not only the result of hard work, but also the crystallization of humanity, of the spirit of "The healthy leaves cover the torn leaves" in the midst of a life full of difficulties. This is a "wordless" task, in addition to cultivating beautiful memories of comradeship and teammate love in difficult times, CSCĐ officers and soldiers also light up the faith of poor people in remote villages. Without needing words of thanks, the most precious reward for them is the emotional eyes, the bright smiles of the people when entering a new warm home without wind or rain. And more than that, it is the people's trust in the armed forces for the people, close to the people, living in the hearts of the people - steadfast in everyday life like the new houses that have just been built.
