As of this afternoon (September 29), dozens of households in Minh Chau village cluster, bordering Minh Tien village (Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district) are still completely isolated due to the impact of floods.
Previously, at around 10am on September 27, heavy rain and water poured down, causing the main road leading to this cluster of villages to collapse and become cut off. The entire road surface, more than 10 metres long, was broken in half, creating a large abyss about 6-7 metres deep, which was extremely dangerous.
Nearly 30 households with 100 people were isolated. If people wanted to go to the commune center, they had to wade down the cliff and then climb back up the road.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Quyen (born in 1959, residing in Minh Tien village) said that this is the only route home for nearly 30 households in Minh Chau village. For the past few days, they have been isolated and their lives have been completely disrupted.
“The floodwaters rose so quickly that the road was broken in half. Nearly 1 ton of various fish I raised were swept away and everything was lost,” Mr. Quyen said sadly.
Chairman of Chau Hanh Commune People's Committee - Vi The Long said that Minh Chau village has more than 70 households, with nearly 300 people. The damaged road affected and isolated 26 households. The local government promptly provided necessary supplies to the people.
"The District People's Committee has also sent a delegation to inspect and evaluate to find solutions to repair the road, helping people escape from prolonged isolation soon," said Mr. Long.
The “historic” rain and flood in recent days have severely affected Chau Hanh commune. Nearly 200 households had their houses flooded, hundreds of hectares of rice and crops were damaged... Currently, the local government is making efforts to support people to overcome the consequences and soon stabilize their lives.
