Man United have just concluded the 2024-2025 season with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in round 38 of the Premier League. However, the Red Devils' schedule is not over yet as they prepare to embark on an Asian tour with two post-season friendlies, against the ASEAN All-Stars and the Hong Kong (China) team on May 28 and May 30, respectively.
Under the leadership of coach Ruben Amorim, Man United announced on their homepage a squad of 32 players, including many key players such as Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire, Andre Onana, Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo... who will participate in Asia.
In addition to the first team stars, Coach Amorim also gave opportunities to many young talents from the Academy such as Dan Armer, Godwill Kukonki, Reece Munro, Tyler Fletcher, Jack Moorhouse, Jim Thwaites and Shea Lacey, who are expected to gain valuable experience through this trip.
Extremely strong squad brought to Asia by coach Amorim
Although last season ended disappointingly with empty results in all competitions, ranked 15th in the Premier League and lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final, this team is still valued at more than 700 million euros according to Transfermarkt, proving their class and appeal.
Some notable names not included in the tour list include Lisandro Martinez (injured), Noussair Mazraoui (injured against Villa), Leny Yoro (recovering fitness), along with Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen (personal reasons).
Despite not playing against Aston Villa, De Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee were still on the trip, while Jonny Evans was there to say goodbye to Asian fans.
As for the first opponent - ASEAN All-Stars, the match will take place on May 28 at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur - one of the largest stadiums in Asia with a capacity of up to 85,000 seats.
The ASEAN All-Stars team is led by coach Kim Sang-sik, relying on the consensus of the 12 members of the federation. However, the Korean strategist is facing difficulties when the list was reduced from 18 players to 16. Of which, the Vietnamese team has 4 faces.
Recently, midfielder Hoang Duc went to Malaysia to prepare for the gathering of this Southeast Asian team.
The friendly match between the ASEAN All-Stars and Man United is part of the Maybank Challenge Cup, which aims to raise funds for the YASA charity – an organization that supports youth and vulnerable communities in Malaysia.
Match tickets are issued at 7 price levels, from 50 Ringgit - CAT7 (about 290,000 VND) to 1,500 Ringgit - VIP (about 8.8 million VND), suitable for many types of fans.
At present, there are still quite a few tickets left for the match and only the two lowest categories, CAT 6 and CAT 7, are sold out.
