Receiving the delegation of Khanh Hoa province, Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka Ngo Trinh Ha welcomed the delegation's visit and work in Japan at the time of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan; at the same time, he introduced to the delegation the situation of Vietnam - Japan cooperation in recent times, which has continued to develop closely, closely and well in many fields such as labor, trade, investment, diplomacy... Osaka City is an area with many outstanding strengths such as: being the economic center of Western Japan with a population of 30 million people, with great potential for development in trade, investment, focusing on small and medium enterprises. Besides, Osaka is also a center for scientific and technological research (with Kyoto University, Kansai University... and many large research centers); at the same time, the Vietnamese community in Osaka is relatively large (about 100,000 people) and tends to increase rapidly, with a young and dynamic labor structure. Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hai Ninh sincerely thanked Consul General Ngo Trinh Ha and the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka for their attention, help and support to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Delegation over the past time, especially in the preparation for the Investment and Tourism Promotion Conference in Japan (held in Hiroshima Prefecture on November 8). Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hai Ninh informed about the socio -economic situation of the province in the first 10 months of 2023 and the potentials and strengths of Khanh Hoa, especially the special policy mechanisms, the ability to connect synchronous and modern transport infrastructure, etc. He said that the purpose of his visit to Japan this time was to connect and seek cooperation opportunities in the fields of tourism, investment, and trade; to initially cooperate with a locality of Japan (Hiroshima Prefecture). At the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Le Huu Hoang introduced the potential and strengths of the province; the fields, industries, and projects that Khanh Hoa province is attracting investment to Japanese enterprises. Japanese enterprises were interested in and discussed many contents related to investment in agriculture, the establishment of a direct flight from Osaka to Japan, investment in healthcare for the elderly, etc.

In the coming time, the province will focus on promoting Khanh Hoa to make Japanese people know more about it, moving towards establishing a direct flight from Japan to Khanh Hoa, creating all favorable conditions for Japanese investors to seek investment opportunities in Khanh Hoa. At the reception, Mr. Nakamoto Takashi - Chairman of the Hiroshima Prefectural Council warmly welcomed the delegation of Khanh Hoa province, and said that after the meeting with the Prime Minister of Vietnam during the recent G7 Summit in Hiroshima (Japan), the Hiroshima prefectural government wishes to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two localities in all fields.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh said that in the future, there will be the first high-speed railway line in Vietnam from Ho Chi Minh City to Khanh Hoa. With these potentials and strengths, Khanh Hoa wishes to expand cooperation with many foreign investors, including Japanese investors. The Provincial Party Secretary also provided more information about the tourism sector - considered a key economic sector of Khanh Hoa with many impressive figures: in the first 10 months of the year, it welcomed 6.2 million guests, including 1.7 million international visitors. However, many Japanese tourists still do not know much about Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. Therefore, the Provincial Party Secretary hopes that this tourism promotion conference in Hiroshima will open up many cooperation opportunities for Japanese businesses, along with opening more direct flights from Hiroshima - Khanh Hoa, which will attract many Japanese people to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. Speaking at the opening of the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Huu Hoang said that Khanh Hoa is one of the famous tourist destinations in Vietnam and Asia with beautiful beaches, rich cuisine, unique traditional culture and arts, synchronously invested tourism infrastructure, worthy of being a promising investment and business destination for domestic and international investors, including Japan. Up to now, there are 6 Japanese direct investment projects in Khanh Hoa, with a total registered capital of more than 2.6 billion USD, accounting for nearly 70% of the total FDI capital of Khanh Hoa province. Currently, a number of large Japanese corporations are interested in investing in the energy sector, international trade centers, and hospitals for the elderly. On the basis of the good traditional cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan, Mr. Le Huu Hoang hopes to invite more Japanese enterprises to invest and do business in Khanh Hoa; Strengthening cooperation with Khanh Hoa enterprises in the fields of: Medicine, health care, high technology, information technology, trade, seaports, tourism.

Delegates highly appreciated the information provided by Khanh Hoa province, helping Japanese enterprises understand more about the potential and investment, business and tourism opportunities of Khanh Hoa. Concluding the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hai Ninh sincerely thanked the support of the leaders of Hiroshima province and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka in successfully organizing the conference to promote investment and tourism in Khanh Hoa in Japan. He emphasized that with the orientation of becoming a centrally-governed city by 2030, Khanh Hoa has great opportunities for domestic and foreign investors in the process of converting and upgrading criteria for facilities, infrastructure and many other criteria to turn the locality into a centrally-governed city. In addition, the Vietnamese National Assembly has issued a Resolution to pilot a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Khanh Hoa province with many incentives when investing in the province (especially Van Phong Economic Zone) in many fields such as: High-tech industry, logistics, non-tariff...; especially incentives for strategic investors when ensuring conditions on capital scale, capacity, experience. The conference witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Khanh Hoa province enterprises and Japanese partners: Sungroup Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with 4 Japanese partners on developing projects in Khanh Hoa province; Vietnam Transport Marketing & Tourism Company - Vietravel signed 2 memorandums of understanding with partners (DMC Hiroshima Company and Showa Travel Company) on the field of international tourism in the Khanh Hoa - Japan market.
At the conference, Vietnamese enterprises held B2B (Business to business) sessions with Japanese enterprises on investment, tourism, trade and preferential policies in Khanh Hoa province.

Speaking at the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hai Ninh believed that with the capacity of Van Phong Power Company and Vietcombank Khanh Hoa - the branch that has been leading the Vietcombank system for many years, the project will be effective, contributing to the local socio-economic development. Japan is currently the largest foreign investor in Khanh Hoa. In particular, Sumitomo Group alone has invested 2.6 billion USD in Khanh Hoa with the Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant, which has put unit 1 into commercial operation and is expected to put unit 2 into commercial operation in December 2023. The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that this event is not only meaningful in terms of economic relations, but also a commitment of the local government, creating all favorable conditions for Japanese investors to implement the project in Khanh Hoa. On the morning of November 10, a delegation from Khanh Hoa province visited and worked at Sumitomo Group (Japan).
Here, the leaders of Sumitomo Group introduced to the delegation the scale of the group, with a charter capital of 28.4 billion USD, 886 subsidiaries and more than 78,000 employees; operating in 7 main areas (infrastructure, logistics, mining, quarrying, real estate, digital technology, etc.). In Khanh Hoa, the group is implementing phase 2 of the Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant Project. The group is continuing to explore opportunities to implement projects in Vietnam related to industrial parks; health care and medical; data infrastructure; airport, seaport and smart city projects. The group wishes to continue to contribute to the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa province.
