The National Election Council (NEC) has called on all candidates to show tolerance and mutual respect during the campaign.
Despite rising violence from drug gangs and a prolonged drought that has left the country facing power outages, President Noboa is leading in early opinion polls with 33%.
Opposition candidate Luisa Gonzalez of the Citizens' Revolutionary Movement (RC) came in second with 29%.
Mr. Leonidas Iza (President of the Confederation of Indigenous Peoples of Ecuador - CONAIE) ranked third with 3%.
Mr. Daniel Noboa, born in 1987, is the son of billionaire Alvaro Noboa, owner of the Noboa Group and one of the richest people in Ecuador. Taking office in November 2023, this youngest President in Ecuador's history faces many challenges in the context of the South American country's economic difficulties and street violence between drug trafficking gangs.
Mr Noboa's current term lasts only 17 months until May 2025.
