After the resounding success of BlackPink, YG's next girl group - BabyMonster - received a lot of attention from the audience. However, despite debuting for more than a year, the seven girls have not achieved the explosive success as expected, causing fans to question the group's next direction.

Faced with that situation, in early 2025, YG took a bold step by organizing a world tour for BabyMonster just 9 months after their debut, thereby making this one of the earliest Kpop groups to have a world tour ever.

Up to now, BabyMonster's Hello Monsters tour has gone through a long journey, starting in their home country of Korea, continuing in the US, Japan, Hong Kong, and recently arriving in Vietnam on the evening of May 31.

Impressive live singing

In fact, although they have not yet made a big splash on the charts, BabyMonster is still considered by the international press to be one of the most talented Kpop groups today. And Hello Monsters in Vietnam recently proved that these comments are well-founded.

The SECC space exploded with the appearance of the YG girls. The show opened with Drip - the title track of the group's first mini album - and the hit Batter up . However, the songs this time were remixed, still keeping the hiphop/trap spirit of the original but with a more intense and powerful rhythm to suit a concert opening performance.

Due to the absence of Rami - the group's main vocalist - her singing parts were divided among the other members, mainly Ahyeon, Chiquita and Rora. Notably, Rora took on more climaxes this time to shine.

After the opening, the show continued with a series of the group's biggest hits to date such as Click Clack, Like That and SHEESH . These performances had strong beats and synchronized choreography, contributing to creating a vibrant atmosphere right from the first minutes. In the stands, the audience's response was also enthusiastic, creating a passionate atmosphere.

With Hello Monsters, each member of the group has a solo performance. However, since they don't have any personal releases, most of their performances are covers. Rora chose to cover Someone You Loved , Ahyeon performed Dangerously by Charlie Puth, and youngest member Chiquita covered Olivia Rodrigo's hit Traitor .

Notably, during her performance, Rora could not hold back her emotions and shed tears as the audience sang along. Meanwhile, Asa - one of the most talented members of the group - impressed the audience when he performed Godzilla , one of the most difficult rap songs by the legendary Eminem. Two Japanese rappers - Ruka and Asa, also delighted the audience with their performance of Woke up in Tokyo - a song that combines hip hop, electronic music and Japanese sounds.

In addition to the powerful, stirring performances, the night also devoted time to more emotional songs. Love, Maybe and Dreams , performed interspersed with BabyMonster's trainee videos , created a sense of the group's journey to adulthood.

In this part, the members with strong vocals had more opportunities to show off. Ahyeon continuously conquered the difficult high notes, while Chiquita and Rora did well in their parts with sweet voices. However, due to taking on more difficult singing parts, Rora sometimes ran out of breath on the high notes.

The second half of the concert returned to a vibrant atmosphere when BabyMonster performed BlackPink's hit songs like Kill this love and As if it's your last . In addition, the trio Drip , SHEESH and Batter Up were also performed again with a live band version, bringing explosive energy at the end of the show.

During the show, Asa stood out with her skillful rapping and confident demeanor. The female idol also made a mark with her twerking moves and captivating stage presence, reminiscent of her senior Lisa. Ruka also impressed with her street hip-hop style and powerful dance moves. Her performances created a vibrant energy throughout the show. Meanwhile, Pharita scored points with her bright stage presence and sweet voice.

Finally, BabyMonster shows diversity in the lineup as each member has their own color, helping the audience easily recognize and remember each individual on stage.

BabyMonster speaks Vietnamese, wears conical hat

Unlike the stages in the US or Korea with about 20,000 spectators, Hello Monsters in Ho Chi Minh City was organized on a more modest scale (SECC has a capacity of about 8,000 people). Not to mention, as a new band, BabyMonster's ticket sales in Vietnam also encountered many obstacles. According to Tri Thuc - Znews 's records at the last show, some seats of Hello Monsters were still empty. This is completely different from the sold-out situation seen in previous concerts of 2NE1 or BlackPink in Vietnam.

However, the night still maintained its heat thanks to the quality performances and friendliness of BabyMonster. Not only did they bring international standard performances, the group's interactions also created a pleasant atmosphere.

The members spent a lot of time interacting with the audience, almost never missing any breaks to communicate. In particular, the group also created sympathy by trying to use Vietnamese in the show, with Asa being the most active. Some items prepared by Vietnamese fans, such as conical hats, were also brought on stage by Asa and Pharita during the performance.

Overall, the 2 hours of Hello Monsters in Vietnam were quite complete, with a series of impressive performances to showcase BabyMonster's musical colors and performance abilities. In addition, the group also created sympathy thanks to the enthusiasm of the members. After Vietnam, BabyMonster's next destination will be Thailand.
