While crowds of people flock to the center of Ho Chi Minh City to await the brilliant fireworks, while the stage of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification Day and other art programs are bustling with songs and music, at transformer stations, in important locations, behind the stages, event venues, etc., electricians silently stand guard over the lights. They not only keep the electricity uninterrupted but also keep the faith and national pride shining on the great festival of the country.
Prepare thoroughly, ready for all situations
Preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day have been carried out by EVNHCMC since the beginning of the year. Dozens of urgent meetings were held from the Corporation to each member unit, sometimes right at the construction site.
Preparation is not only about plans and power supply diagrams, but also a detailed “action scenario” with many layers of backup, incident handling scenarios and multi-disciplinary coordination exercises. Every detail is scrutinized as a vital link in the safety chain. Because just one small mistake can affect millions of eyes and millions of people’s trust.
“There is no room for negligence on this special occasion. Each power station and each connection point must be thoroughly inspected many times, rehearsing every worst-case scenario that could happen and having at least two backup layers,” Mr. Luan Quoc Hung - Deputy General Director assigned to be in charge of this special activity, repeatedly reminded during the inspections of the construction progress at the construction site.

100% of the Saigon Electricity Company's staff were on duty to serve the celebration, parade, and military parade. About 125 electricity officials were mobilized to be on duty at important locations such as: the City Party Committee Headquarters, the City People's Committee, hotels where delegates stayed, emergency hospitals, LED screens serving the parade, etc. In addition, regarding the operation method, the Corporation has conducted a general inspection of the high-voltage and medium-voltage power grids, reviewed the safety corridor of the power system; and developed an operation method for the event area issued by the Ho Chi Minh City Power System Control Center.
In addition, EVNHCMC also closely coordinated with local authorities to ensure security at key power stations, creating a solid shield for the power system. Thanks to that, more than 50 sound and lighting systems, 21 large screens serving the parade, along with thousands of hotels, restaurants and millions of households in Ho Chi Minh City were provided with stable and continuous power.

In addition, the drastic participation of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) is an important support for EVNHCMC. The working group led by Mr. Ngo Son Hai, Deputy General Director of EVN, has twice directly visited Ho Chi Minh City to inspect the work of ensuring electricity at hot spots.
Each inspection trip is not only a supervision, but also a reminder, inspiration, and fuel for the "ready to fight" spirit of the leadership team, engineers, and workers of EVNHCMC. Continuous meetings between EVN - EVNHCMC, between EVNHCMC and its affiliated units have created a continuous flow of responsibility, discipline, and the spirit of "for the Fatherland, for the People".

A worthy result for a worthy spirit
All these efforts have brought about complete results: There were no power outages during the entire series of events. Large-scale stage programs such as “Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day” on Le Duan Street; the television program “Forever the Triumphant Song”; the special art program “National Reunification Day”; the art programs “The Country is Full of Joy”, “The Epic of Great Spring Victory”, “The City I Love” took place continuously from April 25 to 30 at many locations such as: 23/9 Park, Youth Cultural House, Le Van Tam Park… all had absolutely stable power supply, contributing to spreading the spirit of patriotism and national pride.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, General Director of EVNHCMC shared: “This is the result of smooth coordination, responsible and disciplined working spirit, especially the proactive and decisive direction of Vietnam Electricity Group, the Party Committee, the Board of Directors and the consensus of all EVNHCMC employees”.
Keeping the light for the national festival, EVNHCMC not only fulfilled its political mission but also spread the spirit of dedicated service, affirming the position of a modern, proactive, proud electricity industry that always accompanies the development of the city and the country.
