US agents added that the FBI has "preliminarily identified" the male suspect in the shooting and believes the threat has passed.
On the same day, the Indian Prime Minister issued his first reaction to the assassination attempt. He stated in a post on X: “Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. (I) strongly condemn this act. Violence has no place in politics and democracy. Wishing him a speedy recovery.” In addition, Prime Minister Modi also expressed solidarity with the American people.
On July 14, Rahul Gandhi, a member of parliament and opposition leader in the Indian House of Representatives, condemned the assassination attempt on former US President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
