According to a survey released by Gallup on November 28, Mr. Trump's current approval rating is 36%, down one percentage point from July and the lowest number since January. His previous record low was 34%, recorded after the Capitol Hill riot on January 6, 2021, during his first term.

The latest poll shows that 60% of respondents disapprove of the way Mr. Trump has handled state affairs since his re-election and return to the White House in January.

While a majority of Democrats disapprove of his leadership, the president’s approval rating among Republicans and independents has also dropped significantly. Since late October, the Republican approval rating has dropped 7 percentage points to 84%, while the independent approval rating is down 8 points to 25% from October.

By area, Trump received the highest approval rating (43%) for his handling of crime, followed by 41% for foreign affairs and 39% for his trade agenda. Immigration and the economy received 37% and 36% approval, respectively, while health care received only 30% approval.

"Each of the current numbers is consistent with previous surveys, but there have been significant declines in approval ratings since February for the president's handling of immigration (down 9 points), the Middle East (down 7 points), and the economy (down 6 points). Since March, Trump's approval ratings have dropped by double digits for the federal budget (down 12 points) and Ukraine (down 10 points)," Gallup researchers said.

Trump received 33% approval for his response to Israel's war in Gaza. His approval rating for his response to the Russia-Ukraine conflict was 31%.

Gallup said: "The longest government shutdown in history, Republican losses in some local elections and lingering concerns about the cost of living appear to have damaged Mr. Trump's standing with Americans in November, especially Republican and independent voters."

The issue of rising prices became a flashpoint in local elections on November 5, when many Democratic candidates won the races for governor and mayor.

The Gallup survey, conducted between November 3 and 25 among 1,321 adults, noted that the impact of Republican losses in the 2025 elections and Trump's declining approval ratings "could be a sign of trouble for Republicans in next year's midterm congressional elections."
