The end of DOGE was officially confirmed by Scott Kupor, Director of the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM). When asked about the status of DOGE, Mr. Kupor replied: "It no longer exists."
He also clarified that DOGE is no longer a “centralized unit” and its staff has been transferred to other departments within the government.

DOGE was founded in January, shortly after President Donald Trump took office, with the mission of advising on policies to cut federal spending. In its early stages, tech billionaire Elon Musk was seen as the leader of DOGE's activities. Mr. Musk and other cabinet officials at the time also regularly publicized information about the agency's moves.
However, attention on DOGE has faded since Mr Musk left the US government in May and had disagreements with President Donald Trump. Although DOGE claims to have cut tens of billions of dollars in government spending in its short time in operation, this figure is almost impossible to independently verify.
Under President Trump’s executive order, DOGE was supposed to operate until July 2026. However, Mr. Kupor’s statement suggests that the agency has seemingly ceased operations. He said that OPM has now taken over many of the functions that were assigned to DOGE.
Although there was no official announcement of the dissolution, there were many signs that DOGE had ceased operations. Reuters reported that key DOGE employees had moved to work in other departments.
Another clear example is the fact that DOGE Acting Director Amy Gleason moved to an advisory position to US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr. in March. Her recent statements have mainly revolved around health issues, and very little has been said about DOGE's activities.
In response to this information, White House spokeswoman Liz Huston responded: "President Trump has directed the implementation of the task of reducing waste, combating fraud and abuse across the federal government, and he continues to actively implement that commitment."
