The event marked a breakthrough in the application of augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology in preserving and promoting Vietnam's cultural heritage.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, said that with the desire to bring a completely new experience to domestic and international tourists when visiting the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, the Center has collaborated with BSM company to apply AR technology, "reviving" history.
The project is a testament to the orientation of “Preserving heritage with technology - Connecting the past with the future” on the occasion of this year’s Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day. The combination of traditional values and digital technology applications not only creates a new breeze for heritage tourism activities, but also especially attracts the young generation, contributing to diversifying digital experiences, promoting relics and developing the capital’s cultural industry.
At the event, Mr. Truong Quoc Toan, Assistant Director of the Hanoi - Île-de-France Urban Development Cooperation Project, commented: The Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam always maintains a pioneering role in creative applications, cultural industry applications and digitalization.
The application of augmented reality (AR) technology combined with artificial intelligence (AI) has created a connection, a "cross-century, cross-generational" sympathy. With "Vietnamese Wonderful History", visitors at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam can completely meet their ancestors vividly; can even stand next to them, can communicate to a certain extent. And through those interactions, visitors will clearly understand the journey of a Confucian scholar in the past: From studying in the village teacher's class, to taking the exam, and then returning home in honor of their ancestors.
According to Mr. Truong Quoc Toan, for a heritage with special value like Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, promoting the value of heritage in real space always has certain limitations. But those limitations have been overcome and removed when digital space is introduced.
“ I hope that with the product Vietnam Wonderful History, visitors will understand more about the Vietnamese tradition of studiousness and the spirit of lifelong learning, which is the greatest value that every Vietnamese person always carries with them throughout their life journey. At the same time, the digital experience space will also help visitors really change their thinking: If in the past, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam was considered a "must-see" place when coming to Hanoi, now, with diverse digital experiences, visitors will have a new perception that the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is a place not to be missed every time they return to Hanoi" , Mr. Truong Quoc Toan emphasized.
After the launching ceremony, visitors to the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy experienced the free application "Vietnam Wonderful History" at three AR points arranged in the front yard of the Teacher's House, namely: Village School Classroom - Simulating the traditional educational space with the teaching method of the ancients; Candidates Taking the Exam - Vividly depicting the solemn but emotional examination space of the candidates on the path to the imperial examination; Vinh Quy Bai To - Recreating the solemn procession of new PhDs returning to their village to pay respect to their ancestors.
Each experience point is fully equipped with modern equipment with iPads and dedicated display screens. Visitors can experience directly at the relic or download the application to their personal mobile devices completely free of charge.
