It can be affirmed that in recent years, the movement of war veterans doing good business for the sake of comradeship has been implemented by the association at all levels in many diverse forms, achieving outstanding results; thereby continuing to spread the patriotic tradition of war veterans.
Visiting the famous Thuong Dinh seafood processing facility located on the Nhat Le beach, veteran Nguyen Cong Dinh (in Trung Binh residential group, Dong Hoi ward), the facility owner, confided: "I always remember the "time of war and bullets", the comrades who "went through life and death" together to appreciate the present life more and remind myself to live a life worthy of the sacrifices of my comrades".

Currently, to create jobs for 5-7 regular workers, 10-12 seasonal workers with an income of 6-7 million VND/month, Thuong Dinh facility owned by veteran Nguyen Cong Dinh maintains the processing of seafood products, such as: fish sauce, dried shrimp, crushed shrimp, fermented fish sauce... Each year, about 12-15 tons of crushed shrimp, 12,000 liters of fish sauce, 3-5 tons of fermented fish sauce of all kinds are exported to the market... Thereby, creating conditions for over 10 veteran households with difficult circumstances to rise up to become well-off households. He has been awarded many certificates of merit by all levels and sectors.
“With quality products and ensuring food hygiene and safety, in addition to serving people and tourists when coming to Quang Tri, the production facility has connected to expand the consumption market in Hanoi , Da Nang and some other provinces and cities. The average revenue is 2.5 billion VND/year, profit is 1.8 billion VND, average family income is 400 million VND/year...”, CCB Nguyen Cong Dinh shared.
Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Dong Hoi Ward Phan Quang Dinh emphasized: “In daily life and activities, the family of War Veteran Nguyen Cong Dinh always promotes the nature of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”, being exemplary in the movements of the locality and organizations. In addition to fulfilling his duties as a citizen and actively participating in social work, he is always ready to guide and help people in the village and hamlet to strive to do business together. In particular, the activities of “repaying gratitude”, contributing to building houses of gratitude, shelters of love, building new rural areas... all have significant contributions from War Veteran Nguyen Cong Dinh".
Returning to his hometown with a 2/4 disabled status, 61% loss of working capacity, but when his health gradually stabilized, veteran Dang Van Luan (in residential group 1 Phu Vinh, Dong Son ward) quickly started production to develop the economy, actively participating in patriotic emulation movements in the locality... From a poor household, in difficult circumstances, with an exhausted economy, with 20 million VND in initial capital, veteran Dang Van Luan started to build and expand production and after just over a year, his family's life "escaped poverty"...
“From 2017 to now, CCB Dang Van Luan has always reserved a part of its budget for social work and charity; each year it supports 50-70 million VND for charity activities, giving gifts, helping people in difficult circumstances and the following year the support budget is often higher than the previous year; in which priority is given to the activities of the CCB Association”, Vice Chairman of the CCB Association of Dong Son Ward Tran Chinh Le said.

Not only enriching themselves and their families and supporting and helping their comrades develop the economy, CCB officers and members of CCB Associations are also exemplary in implementing the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas". Many models of CCB members participating in building new rural areas have been built, replicated and effectively promoted; typically: "Self-managed CCB road", "Exemplary CCB members building model residential areas", "Self-managed CCB members protecting the environment" club... In addition, CCB members' households are also exemplary, voluntarily contributing, supporting money, labor, donating land, donating property, contributing to implementing the criteria for building new rural areas in the locality.
For the sake of comradeship, the Association at all levels has actively mobilized officers and members to participate in charitable activities, notably responding to the emulation movement "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses". With the contributions of officers and members, and the connection of the Association at all levels with agencies, organizations and philanthropists, from 2022 to August 2025, the Association at all levels has coordinated to eliminate 219 temporary houses, of which 11,550 million VND has been supported to build 165 "Comradeship" houses for war veterans in difficult circumstances.
Up to now, the poverty reduction work of the Quang Tri Veterans Association has achieved many important results: The number of poor veteran households is 1.35% (a decrease of 953 households compared to 2022); near-poor veteran households is 0.91% (a decrease of 1,435 households compared to 2022); well-off and rich households are 61.8% (an increase of 2,070 households compared to 2022).
With the moral of "When drinking water, remember its source", the Association at all levels has paid attention to visiting the families of war invalids, martyrs and families with meritorious services to the revolution on holidays and Tet; helped families of war veterans in difficult circumstances, promptly encouraged and supported officers and soldiers in times of trouble; visited officers and soldiers when they were sick; visited and organized thoughtful funerals when soldiers passed away.
Responding to the program "Millions of loving hearts - Thousand happy homes" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Association of War Veterans at all levels actively contributed and supported the construction of Great Solidarity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province and the Northwestern provinces; at the same time, responded to the program "65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society...
“To keep alive the tradition of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”, promote the spirit of solidarity, mutual assistance in economic development and sharing in life, the Provincial Veterans Association will continue to coordinate, support and create conditions for officers and members of the Veterans Association to access and effectively use mobilized resources; at the same time coordinate to foster and improve knowledge and skills in economic development, application of science, engineering and technology; replicate models of veterans helping each other reduce poverty and do good business. From there, arouse the will to rise up and the desire to get rich legitimately of each member”, Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial Veterans Association Tran Ngoc Sam emphasized.
