Chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province Le Van Trung said that the Association has 25 affiliated branches with 287 members. This is a mass social organization that carries out people's foreign affairs, mobilizing and gathering people from all walks of life to build peace, solidarity and friendship between the people of Vietnam and Thailand.
The Association promptly deploys and thoroughly grasps directives and resolutions of the Party and superiors related to people's foreign affairs work, thereby organizing activities in all areas of social life, achieving many positive results.

People-to-people diplomacy continues to affirm the correct guidelines and policies of our Party and State in the cause of national construction and development. Activities of peace, solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the Thai people are given attention and are being strengthened.
The network of international friends with the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province continues to expand. The Association coordinates with the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations to send congratulatory letters to the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City on holidays, New Year, the day of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand and organizes a meeting of overseas Vietnamese on the occasion of the beginning of spring.
The Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province also regularly promotes research, consultation, and foreign affairs propaganda; propaganda about Vietnam's guidelines, viewpoints, and foreign policies on innovation; and integrates propaganda about the cultural beauty of Vietnamese people in general, and An Giang in particular, to the Thai people.
At the same time, promote the image of the country and culture of Thailand to the Vietnamese people; promote the activities of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association in publications and mass media, helping people better understand the image of the country and the cultural beauty of the two countries.
Mobilization and sponsorship, especially domestic mobilization sources, have been highly effective and sustainable, contributing to social security and improving people's lives in the province. Recently, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association has focused on mobilizing branches, members and the community to sponsor programs to build bridges, roads and houses; give gifts, rice, and medical examinations to poor patients; provide charity dental implants, and provide wheelchairs to the disabled, etc.
The Association supported 237 lonely elderly people, orphans, and mentally ill people at the Provincial Social Protection Center with an amount of more than 1.7 billion VND; mobilized more than 1.5 billion VND to build 45 houses of love; sponsored more than 2.5 billion VND for free dental implants for 860 people; mobilized to build 2 rural traffic bridges, poured road stones, provided free eye surgery, and bought mini water purifiers for households in difficult circumstances in Son Kien commune, with a total cost of 616 million VND. Mobilized to build 1 rural traffic bridge, 1 house, gave 4 tons of rice, gave 544 gifts, and provided free eye surgery for 40 elderly people in Hon Dat commune, with a total value of more than 600 million VND. Constructing a new bridge with a width of 4.5m and a length of 44m in Rach Gia ward, costing 2 billion VND... As a result, in 2024, the total value of mobilization and disbursement reached more than 10 billion VND. In the first 10 months of 2025, the total value of mobilization and disbursement reached more than 11.3 billion VND.
Mr. Le Van Trung said: “Over the past years, members of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province have promoted their sense of responsibility, made efforts to overcome difficulties, and strived to fulfill their people's foreign affairs tasks, mobilized foreign non-governmental aid and domestic funding. Thereby, many groups and individuals have been awarded certificates of merit by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Central Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association, and the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements.”
Building a strong and comprehensive association
In the coming time, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province will continue to implement Directive No. 12-CT/TW, dated January 5, 2022 of the Secretariat on strengthening the leadership of the Party and improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation. The unit will implement the 5th Resolution, term 2022 - 2027 of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association; closely follow the socio-economic development goals of the province, the action program of the Provincial Party Committee to implement the resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030 and the 4th Resolution, term 2023 - 2028 of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations. The Association will continue to organize foreign reception activities, diplomatic visits, send congratulatory telegrams and letters on important holidays of the Thai people.
The unit coordinates with the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and relevant agencies to organize friendly exchanges, art performances, and exhibitions on major holidays of the two countries, creating opportunities for members in An Giang and Thailand to connect, meet, exchange, visit, encourage, and experience culture together.

The Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province continues to combine the organization of celebrations and cultural events such as the Vietnam - Thailand trade promotion fair; photo exhibition, film week; Vietnam - Thailand cultural exchange; seminars on economic cooperation, education, response to climate change... to promote the exchange and cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Thailand.
Take advantage of expanding relations with prestigious organizations, individuals and activists in Thailand to facilitate the activities of the association. Actively participate in doing well the work for overseas Vietnamese in the spirit of Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW, dated March 26, 2004 of the Politburo, mobilizing overseas Vietnamese studying, working and living in Thailand to return to their roots to invest in economic development, transfer science and technology, build their homeland and country in general, and An Giang in particular.
The unit will organize charity and humanitarian activities and community development projects to support studious students and disadvantaged people in An Giang, enhancing understanding and solidarity between the people of the two countries. At the same time, it will promote the association and its activities on mass media, social networks, word of mouth, proactively build information channels on social networks; call for Thai businesses to invest and sponsor, especially in tourism, trade, and vocational training.
Mr. Le Van Trung said that through many forms of connection, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province has increased information to overseas Vietnamese in Thailand about the development situation of the country and An Giang; especially information about the national solidarity policy; introduced and connected overseas Vietnamese to visit and contribute to building their homeland. The unit acts as a bridge to introduce and cooperate in the fields of economics, science, engineering, technology and environment between enterprises, training schools in An Giang and Thai partners. Coordinated with universities, vocational schools, professional associations, enterprises in Thailand and partners in Vietnam to organize a thematic talk on "Multicultural Integration", grant scholarships, introduce vocational training programs, jobs for students and youth.
“Mobilizing foreign non-governmental aid and sponsorship from domestic businesses, humanitarian, social and charitable organizations to serve the cause of socio-economic development and poverty reduction is an important task of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of An Giang province. Therefore, we continue to maintain the relationship with the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, existing partners, and at the same time expand the network of international friends, non-governmental organizations of other countries, businesses, social, humanitarian and charitable organizations to mobilize aid and sponsorship to serve the development of the province. Proactively establish cooperative relationships with the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities to gain support and introduce partners to mobilize sponsorship and investment aid for development in areas and localities with many difficulties. Strive to achieve an annual mobilization value of more than 10 billion VND”, Mr. Le Van Trung emphasized.
To be capable of carrying out many important tasks, the unit continues to improve the grassroots association, select dedicated members, negotiate and nominate them as branch presidents; develop new members along with training and fostering to improve awareness and skills of association activities for cadres and members. The annual target is to develop 3 more branches and 30 members. At the same time, continue to do a good job of rewarding and encouraging the active spirit of cadres and members, contributing to the good implementation of people-to-people diplomacy between Vietnam and Thailand.
