Reporting at the meeting, Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Home Affairs, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Election Committee Nguyen Nhu Anh said that the preparation work for the election of the 16th National Assembly and the election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in An Giang province was seriously implemented, ensuring the set schedule. The coordination between the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial People's Council was close, regularly exchanging information, promptly removing difficulties and obstacles in the preparation process.
According to the plan of the An Giang Provincial Election Committee, the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
The election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term must ensure democracy, publicity, transparency, legality, safety, economy, and truly be a festival for all people; elect a sufficient number of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels according to the provisions of law.

Ensure consistency in the arrangement and placement of cadres in the political system, especially the key leadership cadres of the Party and State at the central and local levels.
Regarding the number of National Assembly deputies, it is implemented according to the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies, Resolution No. 1891/NQ-UBTVQH15, dated November 10, 2025 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, which estimates the number, structure, and composition of National Assembly deputies for the 16th term. The expected number of National Assembly deputies for the 16th term in An Giang province is 21 deputies.
The number of People's Council delegates is implemented according to the Law on Organization of Local Government and Resolution No. 107/2025/NQ-UBTVQH15, dated October 16, 2025 of the National Assembly Standing Committee guiding the determination of the expected structure, composition and allocation of the number of people recommended to run for People's Council delegates at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The number of constituencies for electing People's Council deputies at the provincial and communal levels, the list of constituencies and the number of deputies to be elected in each constituency are determined by the election committee at that level upon the proposal of the People's Committee at the same level and announced.
