Vietravel withdraws all capital from Vietravel Airlines

DNVN - Vietravel's Board of Directors (BOD) agreed to divest all of its more than 18.4 million shares at Vietravel Airlines.

Vietravel Tourism Joint Stock Company (code: VTR) has just issued a Resolution agreeing on the policy of divesting all capital contributions at Vietnam Airlines Joint Stock Company (Vietravel Airlines) before December 31, 2025.



According to Vietravel, the divestment will not affect the business activities, tours and aviation services that the Company is providing.


Vietravel Airlines currently has a charter capital of VND2,250 billion (equivalent to 225 million common shares). Vietravel Tourism currently owns 18.4 million common shares, equivalent to 8.2%.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Tourism Group, shared: “After 30 years of establishment and development, Vietravel is entering a period of strong transformation towards a multi-sector tourism and service group. Divestment from Vietravel Airlines is a strategic step in the process of restructuring the investment portfolio, helping us focus more on core competencies and promote the strength of the entire Vietravel Tourism Group ecosystem.”

Mr. Ky also affirmed that the divestment will not affect the business activities, tours and aviation services that the Company is providing to customers. The package tour programs of flight - resort - experience are still maintained through flexible cooperation with many major domestic and international aviation partners.

Vietravel Airlines was approved by the Government to be established in April 2020, with a charter capital of 700 billion VND. By early 2021, the airline will carry out its first commercial flight. Vietravel Airlines is the 6th airline and the third private airline in Vietnam.


Vietravel will divest all capital contributions at travel airline Vietravel Airlines.


After Vietravel withdraws, the shareholder structure of the airline will include T&T Airlines, T&T SuperPort, BVIM Fund and other individual shareholders. The business group of Mr. Do Quang Hien, founder of T&T Group, became a strategic shareholder of Vietravel Airlines at the end of last year, with an ownership ratio of about 75%.

A few months later, Mr. Hien's son, Mr. Do Vinh Quang, was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of this airline. Under the new shareholders, Vietravel Airlines has purchased a number of additional aircraft. Currently, the airline operates flights mainly on the routes of Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and to some tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang...

Vietravel Airlines aims to have a fleet of at least 10 aircraft by the end of this year. The airline is also actively negotiating with international manufacturers and airlines to realize its fleet expansion plan.

In the coming time, this airline will move its headquarters to Hanoi to optimize its operating model and prepare for the next stage of development.
