Held every two years, the Youth Photography Festival is directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union ; organized by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions in coordination with relevant agencies.
This is a practical and useful playground for photography lovers, aged 18 to 35, to demonstrate their creativity, thereby gathering and developing a successor team for the Vietnamese photography force.
2023 is the 5th edition of the Youth Photography Festival, organized in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Hai Phong.
After more than 1 month of launching, the Organizing Committee received 2,003 works, of which, realistic photography category: 1,868 works; conceptual photography category: 135 works, from 289 authors from 57 provinces and cities nationwide sent to participate.
Mr. Ma The Anh, Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Young Photography Festival, commented in general: “The quality of the works participating this time meets the requirements set by the Organizing Committee, the content is quite diverse and rich, with high discovery. In particular, this Festival received many quality photo collections, the presentation is also professional, better than previous years”.

At the end of the photo submission period, the Art Council established by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , consisting of prestigious photographers, worked objectively, fairly and responsibly, selecting 158 works, including 138 works in the realistic photography category; 20 works in the conceptual photography category, by 84 authors, to display and award prizes.
Mr. Ly Hoang Long, member of the Art Council of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, member of the Art Council of the Young Photography Festival, said: “Just from the first round, and right from the first images, I was really impressed by the change in the photographers' thinking, the young authors have paid more attention to technique, composition, color and research direction. After 5 competitions, it is clear that the authors participating in the Young Photography Festival have matured and they have formed a creative thinking in artistic photography”.
According to the assessment of the Art Council, the awarded and exhibited works are all good works, vividly and authentically reflecting the beauty of people, culture, and landscapes of the country, with a new perspective and rich in creativity.
