Stage of Dreams

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, the largest club-level tournament in football history, is about to officially kick off in the US with the participation of 32 of the world's top teams.

From June 14 to July 13, 63 exciting matches will take place at 12 stadiums in 11 major cities in the United States, including: Atlanta, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York/New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington DC.

Notably, this year's tournament brings together 26 players who have won the World Cup, more than the number of world champions competing in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

Of these, 13 members of the 2022 World Cup-winning Argentina team are all present, notably Lionel Messi - the star of Inter Miami. Messi can play in the opening match against Al Ahly FC on June 14.

The golden generation of the French team that won the 2018 World Cup has 9 names participating, notably including Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid), Hugo Lloris (Los Angeles FC), or Dembele, Hernandez and Kimpembe in the colors of PSG - the reigning Champions League champions.

In addition, fans will witness previous World Cup champions such as Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich) and Germany in 2014; Sergio Busquets (Inter Miami) and Sergio Ramos (CF Monterrey) and Spain in 2010. Notably, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso was also a member of this winning squad.

Atletico Madrid is the team with the most World Cup champions with six, followed by River Plate with four.

Nine of the 11 host cities will host at least one group stage match featuring the world champions, giving fans across the United States the chance to meet the legends.

Global game

Not only is it a stage to show off class, the tournament also demonstrates global coverage when gathering players from 81 countries, including 22 countries that have never participated in the World Cup.

“The Club World Cup squad is a testament to the global scale and competitiveness of the tournament,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said. “We are looking at 26 players who have the chance to achieve the feat of winning both the FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.”

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has a prize fund of up to $1 billion. Of this, about $525 million will be distributed to participating teams. The rest will be performance-based bonuses: winning a group stage match will get $2 million, drawing will get $1 million. Getting through the group stage will get another $7.5 million, reaching the quarterfinals will be $13.125 million, the semi-finals will be $21 million, the final will be $30 million and the champion will receive $40 million. In total, the champion can pocket up to $125 million, not including the initial participation fee.

Clubs are allowed to register a preliminary list of 26 to 35 players. During the competition, each team can replace up to 2 players if their contract expires. However, a player cannot play for more than one club in the same tournament.

For FIFA, this year's tournament is not only a playground for top clubs, but also a place where stars who have made World Cup history will continue to write legendary stories in an unprecedented way, this time in club colors.
