SoFi Stadium—home of NFL football teams—originally uses an artificial turf surface, so it had to be renovated to meet World Cup standards.

David Graham, FIFA's senior manager in charge of stadium surfaces, said: "We have installed a temporary base layer consisting of natural grass, sand, a drainage layer, and a vacuum ventilation system. When we combine all those elements, we have the perfect formula for a perfect pitch."

According to FIFA, turf maintenance procedures vary depending on the stadium and the climate conditions of each region. However, all types of turf have been thoroughly researched to ensure consistent playing quality throughout the tournament.
