Accordingly, effective March 1st, FPT appointed Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, AI Director of FPT Software, as the Group's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), while Mr. Vu Anh Tu stepped down from his position as CTO to assume the role of CEO of FPT UAV.

The decision was made in the context of FPT Group announcing increased investment in strategic technologies such as AI, UAVs, quantum technology, railway technology, and cybersecurity. In its long-term development strategy, FPT identifies mastering core technologies as the foundation for strengthening national technological self-reliance, contributing to the realization of the nation's major orientations as outlined in Resolution 57-NQ/TW.

The Chief Technology Officer of FPT will be responsible for guiding and structuring the FPT technology ecosystem around the shift in AI.

Born in 1989, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong holds a PhD in AI from the University of Tokyo (Japan) and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University (USA). He was among the Top 50 outstanding young scientists at Hitachi Corporation (Japan) at the young age of 24. As CEO of FPT UAV, Mr. Vu Anh Tu will focus on developing UAVs, one of FPT's five strategic technology directions for the new phase (including: UAVs, Quantum AI, railway technology, data, and cybersecurity), anticipating the rapidly growing low-cost economy globally and opening up long-term opportunities for Vietnamese technology.

According to forecasts by Markets & Markets and PwC, the global UAV industry is experiencing explosive growth. By 2030, the global UAV market could reach $128 billion and continue to grow to $700 billion by 2035. In Vietnam, the low-level economy is expected to generate $10 billion and 1 million jobs in the next decade.
