Vietnam Futsal training in South America

Coach Giustozzi Diego Raul's team will have a series of friendly matches with teams in the world's top 10 futsal teams, Paraguay and Argentina.

The training trip to South America is a preparation step for the 2024 Asian Futsal Qualifiers in early October, aiming to get a ticket to the 2024 Futsal World Cup held in the US and Mexico. The Vietnamese futsal team will have about 10 days of training in Ho Chi Minh City, then will leave for South America on May 31.

During the training period in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam futsal team (ranked 39th in the world) will play a friendly match with a team from Oceania, Solomon, which has the same goal of participating in the 2024 Futsal World Cup. According to the plan, the Solomon futsal team (ranked 54th in the world) will have 2 friendly matches with the Vietnam futsal team on May 26 and 27 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The team from the Solomon Islands has participated in the futsal World Cup 4 times in a row (2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020), but Solomon futsal has never passed the group stage. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese futsal team has only participated in the world's highest level tournament twice (World Cup 2016, 2020) but has had good results in passing the group stage, in 2020 only stopping at the round of 16 against the Russian futsal team.
