On July 20, 2025, at Mega Market Quang Ninh Trade Center, Ha Tu ward coordinated with Hong Tam Blood Donation Volunteer Club to organize the Blood Donation program with the theme "Giving blood - Sending love". From early morning, many people and youth union members were present to register to participate.
Ms. Hoang Thuy Linh (32 years old), a member of Minh Khai Primary and Secondary School, shared: “Because I had a plan in advance, today I and the members of the school participated in donating blood. This is the second time I have donated blood and I feel this is a meaningful thing. I hope many people will participate to help save the sick.”
According to Secretary of the Ha Tu Ward Youth Union Nguyen Vu Trung, the program mobilized 50 youth union members from affiliated youth union branches. This is the first time the ward organized blood donation after implementing the 2-level local government model, demonstrating the spirit of vanguard and responsibility of youth towards the community.
Not only stopping at the planned locations, HMTN activities have also been expanded to hospitals. At the Provincial General Hospital, the 24-hour Live Blood Bank Club (under the Provincial Red Cross Association) has coordinated to organize a weekend blood donation to facilitate participants.
Vice President of the Club Bui Huong Mai said: “We planned to launch the HMTN program 15 days ago, choosing to organize it on the weekend to make it convenient for volunteers to call their friends and arrange their time to participate. The program attracted about 150 people to register to donate blood, collecting 108 units of blood, promptly supplementing the blood bank for emergency services in the summer.”
The 24-hour Live Blood Bank Club was established in September 2023 with 66 initial members. After nearly 2 years of operation, there are now more than 300 volunteers participating in emergency blood donation, rare blood donation and many other activities. Since the beginning of 2025, the Club has coordinated to organize 4 blood donation sessions at the Provincial General Hospital and Bai Chay Hospital, receiving nearly 500 blood units.
Blood donation campaigns with themes such as "Pink Spring Festival", "Pink Summer Blood Drops", "National Voluntary Blood Donation Day" continue to be widely deployed, associated with the annual Humanitarian Month. According to statistics from the Provincial Red Cross Association, in the first 7 months of 2025, the whole province organized 68 blood donation campaigns, attracting nearly 17,000 participants, receiving 14,394 units of blood, reaching 63% of the year's blood target.
Currently, in the process of reorganizing administrative units, many localities no longer have the Steering Committee for mobilizing voluntary blood donation at the district and grassroots levels, causing the risk of interruption in blood donation mobilization, affecting the blood reserve for emergency and treatment purposes. In this situation, on July 10, 2025, the Provincial Red Cross Association issued a document requesting the Provincial People's Committee to complete the Provincial Steering Committee for mobilizing voluntary blood donation, and direct the establishment of Steering Committees for mobilizing voluntary blood donation in communes, wards, and special zones.
On July 17, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 5384/VP.UBND-VHXH on strengthening voluntary blood donation work in the area. Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Red Cross Association - the Standing Agency of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to advise the Provincial People's Committee on perfecting the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation. At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee allowed communes, wards, and special zones to establish voluntary blood donation associations at the same level and assigned the Department of Home Affairs to research and advise on implementation in accordance with legal regulations.
The consensus and determination from all levels of government, organizations and individuals will continue to be an important driving force for the sustainable development of the blood donation movement; contributing to building Quang Ninh into a typical locality in blood donation mobilization, clearly demonstrating the tradition of humanity and social responsibility.
