At 8 PM today, the Vietnamese futsal team will face Thailand in the final match of Group A at the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship.
After the first two matches, both teams have earned 6 points and officially secured their places in the semi-finals. Therefore, today's match is crucial in determining the top spot in the group.
Coach Diego Giustozzi's team currently holds the advantage, ranking above their opponents thanks to a superior goal difference (10 compared to 5). Therefore, a draw would guarantee the Vietnamese futsal team a top finish in the group stage.
However, Thai futsal has never been an easy opponent for Vietnam. The head-to-head history heavily favors the "War Elephants".
The Vietnamese futsal team has only managed 5 wins, 9 draws, and suffered 17 defeats in 31 matches.
In the Southeast Asian futsal tournament alone, the "Golden Star Warriors" only managed one win and suffered eight defeats.
Playing on the opponent's home ground also presents us with many challenges. However, on a day when Giustozzi's players are in top form, anything can happen.
