The Vietnamese futsal team secured a resounding victory against Timor-Leste, opening the door to the semi-finals.

The Vietnamese futsal team continued its impressive form at the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship with a convincing 7-1 victory over Timor-Leste in the second match of Group A, thus opening the door to the semi-finals.

From the very first minutes, coach Diego Giustozzi's players showed dominance in the game. In the 3rd minute, Tu Minh Quang's decisive shot beat goalkeeper Domingos Gama, opening the scoring for the Vietnamese team. Just two minutes later, Thinh Phat doubled the lead with a dangerous long-range shot, putting his team ahead 2-0.

With their dynamic style of play and excellent ball control, the Vietnamese futsal team continued to maintain strong pressure. In the 12th minute, Nguyen Da Hai scored to increase the lead to 3-0 after a series of consecutive attacks. Before the first half ended, young player Tran Quang Nguyen made his mark with an accurate close-range finish in the 20th minute, giving the Vietnamese futsal team a 4-0 lead.

In the second half, the game remained largely unchanged, with the Vietnamese futsal team continuing to dominate. In the 25th minute, Dinh Cong Vien increased the score to 5-0 with a precise shot. A few minutes later, Cong Dai scored the sixth goal with a powerful strike.

Despite Timor-Leste's efforts to push forward in search of a goal, Vietnam's defense remained solid. In the 33rd minute, Nguyen Thac Hieu continued to shine with a powerful shot, increasing the score to 7-0. Timor-Leste's subsequent efforts only resulted in a consolation goal in the 37th minute scored by Joel Fernandes.

In the end, the Vietnamese futsal team won 7-1 against Timor-Leste, thus earning 6 points after two matches and opening the door to the semi-finals. If Myanmar fails to pull off an upset against Thailand in the match on the same day, coach Diego Giustozzi's team will officially secure their place in the next round.

In the final match, the Vietnamese futsal team will face host nation Thailand in a game that is predicted to be decisive in determining the top spot in Group A.
