On May 11-12, the Provincial Children's Protection Fund, in collaboration with the humanitarian organization Children Action (Switzerland), organized free screening for motor disabilities in children under 16 years old at the Krong Pac District Health Center and Thien Hanh General Hospital.

The screening was conducted by a team of doctors from the Orthopedics Department of the University Children's Hospital of Toulouse (France) and La Fe Valencia Orthopedic Hospital (Spain).

The majority of children who come for examination have musculoskeletal deformities such as clubfoot, bowlegs, hip dislocation, scoliosis, clubhands, etc., or cerebral palsy, burn scars.

After the examination, children who are indicated for surgery or treatment will receive 100% free services and will be provided with counseling, support, and physical therapy. In addition, children from poor or near-poor households or those receiving monthly social assistance will also receive a subsidy of 150,000 VND per child for food and transportation from the organizers.

According to Mr. Lam Dinh Nhien, Director of the Provincial Children's Protection Fund, from 2006 to the present, the Fund has collaborated with orthopedic and rehabilitation hospitals to organize surgeries for 712 children with motor disabilities in the province, costing over 3.5 billion VND. This meaningful program aims to help children with motor disabilities in the province receive examinations and surgeries, giving them the opportunity to live, study, and develop like normal children, thus alleviating difficulties for their families.

In the coming period, the Provincial Children's Protection Fund will strengthen its information and communication efforts to help people in remote and border areas access the program, thereby providing more opportunities for humanitarian medical examinations and surgeries for children with birth defects.
