Enhance hazard identification - Proactively protect worker health
Speaking at the meeting, BSR Deputy General Director Mai Tuan Dat emphasized: The positive results in the first 6 months of the year are a testament to the consensus, solidarity and high determination of all BSR staff. The Company's Board of Directors is committed to continuing to mobilize all essential resources to ensure the Plant operates safely, stably and effectively. Mr. Dat also noted that the work of identifying hazards and promptly handling incidents must be carried out regularly to protect the health of workers and maintain operational efficiency.
With the motto "No accidents - No incidents - No waste", BSR is determined to become one of the pioneering and innovative enterprises in occupational safety - health - environment, taking people as the center, safety culture as the foundation, and technology as a tool to move towards sustainable development, Mr. Mai Tuan Dat affirmed.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phi Hung, Deputy Head of the Safety and Environment Department, up to now, BSR has achieved nearly 52 million safe working hours - a high milestone, demonstrating the effectiveness of a well-built safety and environment culture.
The representative of the Safety and Environment Board reported on the implementation of Safety and Environment, Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue in the first half of the year, and at the same time proposed a plan for the second half of the year with the following key activities: Safety - Health - Environment inspection according to the target program; Occupational safety and health training according to the plan; Periodic health check-ups for employees; Improvement of the accident - incident management system; Monitoring the working environment; Coordinating with the Quang Ngai Police and Border Guard to enhance security - safety for workers...
Promoting safety culture linked to green transformation and sustainable development
In the first 6 months of the year, BSR has issued nearly 20,000 SAO cards to observe safety behavior, with many professional departments achieving high SAO rates. Safety culture has been enhanced for each individual with the motto: "Comply with professional procedures, enforce discipline and do it right from the start". Activities such as continuous training, fire prevention drills, in-depth seminars, safety talks... Solutions are built according to the motto "safety starts from the smallest things" and focus on workers.
At the meeting, representatives of BSR's Research and Development Department also updated the Process Safety Fundamentals level 2 principles, focusing on early identification of potential hazards, risk control in each production stage and improving response capacity to emergency situations.
This is an advanced level in the technological safety management system, requiring each individual in the factory to not only comply with the process but also proactively detect abnormalities and promptly handle deviations in operation. The principles presented are closely related to reality, helping workers to easily understand, remember and apply them right at the scene. This update contributes to perfecting the multi-layered protection system at Dung Quat Oil Refinery, aiming to not only ensure safety for people and equipment but also increase operational reliability, minimize losses and production interruptions.
Also at the 2nd Safety Meeting in 2025, BSR committed to developing a circular economy based on the principle that "everything is an input for something else", promoting waste reduction, recycling and reuse throughout the factory system.
Many initiatives have been and are being implemented such as: Pre-feasibility study on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production at Dung Quat Refinery; Development of microalgae biomass system for biofuel production; Installation of rooftop solar power, wind power plant to provide clean energy for the factory; Replacing FO with LNG as fuel; Research on nano carbon production from CO₂ in exhaust gas; Reusing wastewater to save resources; Recovering silica/alumina from waste catalysts for application in solid-state batteries... These solutions contribute to helping BSR operate greener, more efficiently and more sustainably.
Through the dissemination of the ATMT plan, BSR affirmed its viewpoint: safety always goes hand in hand with production efficiency. From the figure of nearly 52 million safe working hours to incident prevention lessons, from the SAO card to the circular economy model, BSR is steadfastly building a safe and sustainable working environment. That not only benefits the business but also protects workers and contributes to the goal of developing a competitive petrochemical refining business in the region and the world.
