Ken Wilber (born 1949) is one of the most influential American philosophers. With his innovative and daring academic works, he has been called the “Einstein of consciousness studies”. A Brief History of All Things
A Brief History of Everything attempts to find meaning in the contradictory ways—physical, emotional, intellectual, moral, and spiritual—in which humans have evolved.
Although it covers a wide range of disciplines, from physics and biology, systems and social sciences, art and aesthetics, developmental psychology and philosophical mysticism; as well as opposing philosophical movements… the book is very concise and concise.
Philosopher Ken Wilber
A History of Everything is written in the style of a dialogue between him and his readers, and is a rewrite of his famous earlier work Sex, Ecology, Spirituality - the work that established him as the most comprehensive philosopher of his time.
Publishers Weekly said of the book: “With an impressive synthesis of many different fields of study, Wilber organizes and arranges his rich source material to match the nature of evolution, reusing themes from previous thinkers to build a groundbreaking ‘unified theory’ that will give readers a fresh perspective on what they already know, or think they know, in any field.”
One of the most striking ideas that Wilber introduces in this work is the concept of “the four quadrants” of development. By studying hundreds of different developmental maps in biological, psychological, cognitive, and spiritual development, as well as many other fields, Wilber has found that they often represent very different versions of “truth.”
