On the morning of September 5, when hundreds of thousands of students across the country were bustling on the opening day of the new school year, on Tran Island, the outpost island of the Fatherland, in the Co To special zone ( Quang Ninh ), a meaningful opening ceremony was also held at Tran Island Inter-level School.

This special school has only 8 students, including 7 primary school students and 1 kindergarten child, under the instruction of 3 teachers. There are no colorful flags or crowded schoolyards like on the mainland, but the ceremony at the forefront of the wind and waves is still filled with joy and warmth.

Online opening ceremony in the middle of the ocean

Unlike on the mainland, the opening ceremony on Tran Island was simple, with only 8 students, 3 teachers, parents and island soldiers. Thanks to the attention of the education sector and local authorities, the ceremony was connected online, synchronized with thousands of other schools in Quang Ninh province.

For the first time, students were able to join the opening ceremony atmosphere with the whole country.

Over the past few days, the small school yard has been cleaned, tables and chairs neatly arranged, and opening banners hung solemnly. Parents and soldiers also joined the teachers in decorating the classrooms, creating an exciting atmosphere to welcome the new school year.

"Even though we are in a remote area and the conditions are difficult, we still want to give our students a joyful, meaningful and safe opening day," said Ms. Le Thi Bich Ngoc, Vice Principal of Thanh Lan Kindergarten, in charge of the Tran Island school.

Faith from the forefront

When the drumbeat of the opening ceremony resounds in the middle of the ocean, it not only signals the start of a new school year, but also demonstrates the love for the profession and the sea of ​​the teachers on the remote island. With the support of the army and people on the island, 3 teachers and 8 students here enter the new school year full of faith, aspiration and hope.

The small school in the middle of the ocean still shines with knowledge, sowing seeds for the future. And it is the simple classrooms on the outpost island that are adding spiritual strength, so that each student grows up with a love for the sea and islands, continuing the tradition of preserving and building the homeland.

In order to prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, three teachers of the school braved the waves by boat to the island many days ago, bringing with them books, school supplies and excitement for the new school year. This year, two volunteer teachers Pham Thi Hoa and Le Thi Mai Linh also brought their sons (grades 3 and 5) to the island to study with the children there.

Through the TV screen, children heard Minister Nguyen Kim Son send his greetings for the new school year.

"Sending my child to the island to study not only allows him to be close to his mother, but also helps him experience life on the island, practice independence, learn to share difficulties and love the land at the forefront of the Fatherland," Ms. Linh emotionally shared.

The school on Tran Island is small, with only a few classrooms, but each student here is the hope and hope not only of their family but also of the entire outpost island.

Ms. Hoang Thi Quang, a parent whose child is in first grade, said: "The family is very excited because the school is clean, beautiful, well-equipped, and has the care of teachers and soldiers. We, the people, put all our trust in the teachers who bring letters and love to the island."
