Coffee price today 2/14/2025
World coffee prices fluctuated in opposite directions. Arabica coffee prices continued to increase while robusta prices turned to decrease. Despite forecasts of a sharp downward adjustment, coffee continued to increase on the New York floor, bringing Arabica coffee prices to consecutive records in more than half a century.
Domestic coffee prices today, February 14, are trading in the range of 131,600 - 132,600 VND/kg.
Coffee prices have been rising steadily over the past period, supported by many factors. Of which, the three main factors expected to shape the coffee market in 2025 include: weather, supply - demand and macro fluctuations. In 2025, the La Niña phenomenon is forecast to replace El Niño, bringing necessary rains but also potential frost risks in Brazil. Supply and demand continue to be factors keeping prices high. Strong demand from major import markets such as the EU, the US and the rise of emerging markets such as China will be important factors helping coffee prices increase.
The International Coffee Price Index (I-CIP) averaged 310.1 US cents/lb in January 2025, up 3.5% from the previous month and up 75.8% from the same period in 2023. This is also the highest price recorded in the past 50 years, since April 1977.
Coffee prices have been rising over the past month, supported by several factors, according to the International Coffee Organization (ICO): High domestic prices and continued increases in Brazil, the world's largest coffee exporter. Between January 20 and 31, prices for Arabica and Robusta coffee in Brazil increased by 15.2% and 6.2%, respectively. On January 24, Brazil's National Supply Company (CONAB) cut its estimate of the country's 2024-2025 coffee production by 600,000 bags.
December 2024 saw coffee exports from Asia and Oceania fall 31.2% year-on-year to 3.3 million bags, largely due to a 39.5% drop in Vietnam’s exports to 2.1 million bags – the lowest December figure since 2014. The double-digit decline in Vietnam’s exports could be attributed to tight domestic supplies, despite the 2024-25 harvest having begun in October.
According to the ICO, there is typically a four-month lag between the start of harvest and the arrival of coffee in importing countries, meaning the potential for increased exports may not be realized until at least February 2025 trade data.
Coffee prices are also being impacted by growing uncertainty in the global economy . The new US administration’s international trade policies could impact the global coffee industry, with major producing countries such as Brazil, India and Indonesia under scrutiny.
