The weather in the Central Highlands is currently cloudy with light showers but still favorable for coffee growth. Many gardens are producing beans with some early berries, but yields are still low and quality is inconsistent. Farmers are weeding and preparing to apply the final fertilization before harvest. Aphids and fungi are appearing lightly but have not had a major impact. High coffee prices continue to encourage growers to take better care of their coffee.

In the market, the supply of Arabica is quite abundant as inventories have reached a 3.5-month high, which may reduce new purchase demand from roasters. At the same time, Vietnam's Robusta output in the 2025-2026 crop year is forecast to increase by 7.9% to 28.8 million bags, contributing to stabilizing supply in the medium term. This is a factor that makes it difficult for coffee prices to increase too sharply.

Coffee prices are still on a slight upward trend in the short term. Domestically, prices fluctuate around VND117,500 - 118,000/kg due to limited supply and farmers' wait-and-see attitude. Globally, Robusta and Arabica prices are also forecast to increase due to concerns about shortages in Brazil and stable demand.

However, the increase will be difficult to be strong if inventories remain high and Robusta supply from Vietnam increases in the coming time. Coffee prices in the coming days are likely to remain stable or increase slightly within a narrow range, unless there are unexpected fluctuations in the international market.

World coffee prices today

On the London Stock Exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery closed yesterday at $4,329/ton, up 4.19% ($174/ton) from yesterday. The November 2025 futures contract increased 4.43% ($178/ton), reaching $4,198/ton.

Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery increased by 1.96% (6.75 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 350.35 US cents/pound. The December 2025 futures contract increased by 2.02% (6.8 US cents/pound), to 342.85 US cents/pound.

As the Trump administration imposes a 50 percent import tariff on Brazilian coffee and other agricultural products, New York coffee shops are worried about price increases. Major producers like Brazil, Vietnam and Colombia are also facing sharp fluctuations.

Antony Garrigues, manager of Stone Street Cafe in Manhattan, said the costs were becoming unsustainable. He worried that if the tax continued, many small cafes would struggle to survive amid New York’s already high operating costs.

Consumer coffee prices rose 14.5% through July, according to U.S. government data. New Yorkers have begun to tighten their coffee-drinking habits, with many opting to brew at home or only going out to coffee shops on weekends. Some, like Ciao Gloria in Brooklyn, have had to raise their prices by 25 cents a cup to cover costs while trying to keep prices within reach for customers.

Small shop owners like Kos Kaffe and Koré Coffee fear they won’t be able to hold on for long, while larger businesses have more options. Nick Kim, manager of Koré Coffee, shares his frustration: “It’s sad to see the worst coming, but there’s nothing we can do but wait.”
